Actually it has three different langauages in the song: Russian, English, and I forgot the last one.

Yes, the Russian singer Origa also sings "Rise," the opening of 2nd GIG. She also sings the opening and closing themes of the Solid State Society movie.

Im feeling how they used a Russian singer to do a Japanese anime. I guess the thanks should go to Yoko Kanno. Kudos to her, big kudos!

From what I understand, though Origa is Russian by birth, she's lived in Japan for a long time, so she was certainly accessible to Yoko Kanno and company. It was a great call to have her sing in both Russian and English, though.

At least for the first verse, those lyrics don't really mesh with the translation on the DVD subtitles. I know "Milky Way" definitely didn't show up in there, though I guess it could be someone trying to put a different spin on the lyric.

Yep. Yoko Kanno is an amazing musician. She works with some very amazing singers and musicians on some amazing series...

Are you refering to SAC or 2nd Gig though? Personally I prefer the one with Origa (2nd Gig). Origa is an amazing singer.

P.S. What retailer online has the most Yoko Kanno albums available? I've always wanted to buy one of the OAS soundtracks featuring her work.
