section 9 Japan version of S.A.S./D.F./seal team 6

[ Edited ]

I think section 9 is like British/new Zealand/ Australia's  S.A.S.  , American Delta Force, navy seal team 6 or Germany GSG9 6  or Canada's  J.T.F. 2   beasicly military (or in the case of GSG 9 Germany national police ) special forces unit  dose counter terrorism

but I have issues about what is section 9 there at lest  3 know members of it that are/was in JGSDf( aka Japan's army)

Aramaki (rank Lieutenant Colonel)  , Motoko Kusanagi  ( rank Major) Batou  ( rank maybe army captain or 1st lt or 2rd lt)

and at lest one cop Togusa ( rank  Inspector)

so that odd for any for  military unit to have civlian law enforcement in a military unit or regular  military personals  in a law enforcement unit that just not done

and the chain of command is odd

in theory section part of the  National Public Safety Commission

but it seem they only take odders from Japan general secretary or prime Minster or maybe even the emperor or the emperies

so it make sense in my mind  it like the S.A.S. or D.F.. Or seal team 6 or GSG9

Maybe

If

You

didn't

type out your sentences like this, it'd be easier to read and respond. That said, this board is pretty much dead anyway.

I think, in terms of the GitS world, there are a few different Public Security Sections, in much the same way there are different Navy SEAL teams. Section 9 is law enforcement and intelligence primarily, though

Section 1 - Criminal Investigations. Batou and Togusa run into a few of their agents at the end of FAKE FOOD.

Section 2 - Controlled by the MInistry of Health and Welfare, they police any and all matters regarding any illegal testing or experimentation of new biomedical technology or drugs. They *WOULD* be the ones in charge of the Laughing Man incident if not for the fact that they're backed up by the use of micro-machine technology and therefore can't get involved (Have to let a neutral, unbiased 3rd party take care of that.)

Section 3 - Japan's version of the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Section 4 - A squad of Rangers from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force. Encounted at the end of 2nd Gig.

Section 5 - Unknown; never mentioned anywhere in the series.

Section 6 - Intelligence gathering on international crime and terrorism. Have the authority to carry out hits on members of other Sections if they find sufficient evidence to support a crime linked to that person.

Section 7 - Unknown; never mentioned anywhere in the series.

Section 8 - Unknown; never mentioned anywhere in the series.

Section 9 - Cyber-warfare counter-terrorism unit. The blurring of technology and humanity usually means that some form of cyber technology will be involved in almost any crime commited within Japan. Unknown to the public, but most branches of the Government acknowledge them as a Black Ops unit. They're structured more as police officers than military.
