This may be the most un-funny and obnoxious show I've seen on AS. And I've seen 12 Oz. Mouse.
It's funny to me that there's SUPPOSEDLY a religious opposition to this show (though I'm not willing to rule out the possibility that this is a fabrication or exaggeration meant to slap a controversial hat on this butt-cookie of a show.) It is in no way a satire of or affront to traditional Judeo-Christian religious values (in the way of, say, Moral Orel, which I also don't think is funny.) It's still basically affirmative of the doctrine and mythology of those religions; it just takes them and makes it a little bit "cute" and/or "saucy." Oh wow; he's the Devil but he put in a koi pond! It's funny because he's the Devil, see? Oh my; he's God but he's drinking beer! ZOWIE! That really challenges my preexisting notions of the nature of the central figures of my religious faith! Please. If this is offensive then Chronicles of Narnia is offensive (though much more interesting.) And the "humor" of the show, as best I can tell, pretty much relies on juxtaposing religious characters/mythology with unusual situations and affectations (God with Pop-Tarts! HEE HEE MY SIDES) so I can't imagine that this is even mildly interesting or provocative to anyone who isn't either extremely Jesusy or extremely godless -- in other words, people who have never had occasion to contemplate God, the Devil or anything about Western religion to the profound and meaningful extent that, for instance, Joan Osborne, Stephen King and Seth McFarlane have.
I thought maybe I am just biased toward unfamiliar cartoons so after about ten humorless minutes I started imagining the same scenes and dialogue with Venture Brothers animation and characters and it still wasn't funny. And I am sometimes willing to go out of my way to find VB funny.
