Sorry but it has nothing to do with optimism. It's the intelligence level of viewers. If your entertained by characters screaming obscenities at each other and losing limbs,  then you're probably not looking to think much. Then there are the people that like shows with good storytelling and likeable characters that don't resort to childish or stupid antics to get laughs. Most of the people who watch anime are the intelligent crowd of adult swim viewers. They enjoy the in-depth stories and well written and likeable characters.

The comedies that Adult Swim keeps greenlighting all seem to have the same things in common. They are poorly written, poorly animated, on a low budget, and seem to be targeted at people who enjoy alcohol, and being under the influence of narcotics. If this is the larger audience then it's quite obvious that the intelligence level is degrading. Though it's almost a fact that the majority is usually never  the smartest bunch.

It also proves that it's obvious that Adult Swim doesn't really care about the quality of their programming or about who watches it. It's nice to make money and be on top, but most of the time the top companies are the ones that make a superior product. Adult Swims strategy is to make a cheap product that appeals to the simple, which there is clearly more of.

you obviously don't understand the comedic genious of T&E and I'm obviously not the only one who thinks so, too. Just cuz you can come on a message board and start telling people who enjoy the show that we aren't intelligent doesn't mean you'RE right, in any way. And you're saying because a majority of people like the show, and just being part of that majority makes us less intelligent? People who watch [as], I'd say, aren't part of the "majority," and just because we like a show you don't like doesn't make us more dumb or any of that. It all comes down to opinion and even more so the type of person you are. and how you were raised From what you've said, I've deducted that you had a bad childhood without much laughter or friendship which helps me to understand why you wouldn't like a show like T&E.

did you even read this? or did you just ignore me because you realized that i gave you a valid point that you couldn't counter?

of course if you hate a show, you're going to think it's "childish" or "low-brow". you don't like shows like metalocalypse, and since you haven't given any other examples of ones you don't like, i'm going to use it for an example.

sure, there's a lot of gore in the show, but that's not what makes it funny. a running gag in the show is skwisgaar and toki's inability to speak english correctly. (saying "ombuzzle" instead of embezzle, etc.) i can guarantee you that a stoner is probably not going to pick up on that. why? because it's a joke about grammar and pronunciation. if you're intelligent, you'll find it funny because of the way they relentlessly butcher the language, which reinforces the main idea of the show: some celebrities who are completely stupid are worshipped even though they are completely unintelligent.

so in summation, don't you dare call fans of a show unintelligent or low brow just because you don't like a show. maybe they're seeing something deeper than just "haha! he got his face cut!"

other people are just as intelligent as you; i just think you're not willing to admit that.

EDIT: you mentioned superjail also, and i forgot that. superjail is relatively new, so i haven't yet seen any deeper ideas running in it, but i will say that it is a lot like the move Heavy Metal. it's not trying to be deep. that doesn't make it stupid.

the shallowest pond can still reflect the moon. keep that in mind please

and has a big interest in doing that more it would be nice to see new home movies though
