On one of the Season 2 commentaries, probably "Politics", they said they were taking the show in a new direction when they converted to flash. They were probably going to make it a lot more funnier. Season 1 was witty and smart so they wanted to make it a show for everyone.
"First we start it off with a little guitar. And then I go, 'Yeaaaaaah!'. Then the girls go, 'Woo!'. And then I go, 'Hot mama's!'. And then they go, 'And here's a whole bunch of money!'. And then I take all the money and then I go out and I try to buy Apple Jacks, but do you know what, the secret service is coming, and they start hitting me, and they're hitting, stop hitting me, who's talking to me, stop it!"

That's quite possible.  They went away from the conversation-only humor that Squigglevision was supposed to be used for (the squiggling creates the illusion of motion when nothing's really happening) to some more movement and plot based humor mixed in with all the conversational humor.

That's kind of what makes Season 1 the most memorable Season of all.

So the rest of the series doesn't have the same type of dialog :smileysad:  That's a real bummer.... it's what i've loved most about it so far.

I'm sure it's still a great show... just thought the dialog had a natural sound to it that made it really unique... but i shall keep watching.

I'm so glad Home Movies is back on a regular slot on home Movies! Those new bumpers they're using in the ads, I don't recognize those from any old episodes. Any chance they're new recordings?

Any chance that AS is testing how big an audience gets for Home Movies, to see about whether or not it's worth bringing back the show?

Perhaps the DVDs sold better than they thought?

Other theory is, they're testing to see if the show has enough viewers to even bother to make the rest of the seasons into DVD sets...

You don't have to worry, they managed to keep basically all of the dialogue and add physical and plot stuff.. buts its still mostly dialogue-based humor. Which is awesome.

Don't know how you could beat the Robin Hood meets King Arthur thing they did at the medieval fair... it was awesome. Love them all though.. starboy is always enjoyable.. the Wizard's Baker was rockin'.

Those promos were run during the 4th season, and were the only television advertisement that the show ever got.  They weren't from any episodes, they're promo only.

Since [as] isn't actually behind the DVDs, I don't think this will affect the release of season 4.

Don't worry. The dialogue is still there, the new shows just have more structure to them.

It's just so cool that Home Movies is once again being discussed on the boards. It definitely died out for a long time which stopped me from coming here but it's great to see some new Home Movies topics :smileyhappy:

After Season 1, the show became much better, especially Season 3. Once you see Season 3, you'll really fall in love with the show!

Does anyone else notice how surprisingly well Home Movies season 3 is selling? I mean there is nothing about it on the net or anything but a couple of the stores around me still have it in their top 20 highest selling DVDs.

No acutally I didn't know that. that's awesome. There may be hope for Home Movies returning yet.

And the ep playing right now, is the only ep of Home Movies that doesn't have McGuirk.

I absolutly adore this episode despite the fact that there is no McGuirk, even though he is my(and most others) favorite character. Just goes to show that the show is more than just some quick witted one liners from one character

I never knew McGurik wasn't in "Brendon Gets Rabies". That's interesting.
