I'd rather not medal than win bronze

 

 Yeah, it means you're third best in the world at whatever, but it is so shameful.

The medal is pre-tarnished, that's how bad it is.

 That isn't the shameful part.

Bronze as a metal is what makes it shameful.

 

If it was Platinum Gold Silver that would be better.

Bronze medals look tarnished when they hand them out, it is shameful.

just competing in the olympics is an honer, it's not about the being the best. It's about competing and representing your country. plus, who wants to come in fourth?

I think the medal system is more about the symbolism of the medal and not it's actual worth.
