A Quick Fill-in?

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I didn't get to sign in during this past week. I just wanted to drop in and say hello and just find out what has happened.

First off, I just want to clear up two things:
1- This isn't intended as a shout-out thread.
2- I'm typing from my iPhone and won't have laptop access for a few more days, so I'll only be able to read what you guys write in response. Sorry. It's just really hard to type in from a touch- screen phone. Just know that, as usual, all responses are appreciated. :smileyhappy:

Now that I've got that out of the way, on with the show:

I'd first like to respond to some claims made within a certain thread in this folder... This show is very much a classic, just as much as other anime shows that have remained on this network after all these years. If it weren't such a good show that had this distinction, as well as sizable ratings, given the circumstances, it wouldn't have been around for so long, which is a good thing, given this network. Simply disregarding the value of this show is just plain inane, if you ask me. As loyal fans of this show, I'm sure that most of you will share this sentiment with me.

Now, on to the more immediate matters of tonight...I heard of what the programming will be like, as well as the fact that TFA has been considered and/or is still a possibility as a future premiere... Naturally, I'm really disappointed, but I won't go so far as to boycott, like I angrily said I would several weeks ago in another thread. Besides, if any changes are to take place, we must pressure for them from the inside. Shunning them like little children wouldn't solve anything... But yeah, I'm still bummed, but hoping for the best in the future, if not tonight. However, I have to wonder if they've entirely abandoned the idea of broadcasting TFA, given how DeMarco explained how they went about their recent acquisitions... That would be awful. :smileysad: Also, does that mean they no longer have the rights to this show or that they no longer want to air it at all? Or is it simply a temporary thing, especially as an action that they took in the hope of acquiring TFA? It's funny because it seems that a majority of board members have expected and can argue for having aired TFA tonight. Moreover, have I missed anything else following that announcement? Is there anything else that could've hinted in any direction about the fate of this series and TFA?

Finally, if they still get TFA, I think that this would still fit the vague Fall release date that Viz has intended for the DVD... It could support the series being broken up across various DVD's. Just a thought. :smileyhappy:

Well! That's it! I just thought I'd share my thoughts and open up the discussion from this perspective, tired as it may be. :smileyvery-happy: Also, it's just another thing for the guys at Williams Street to see. Insignificant and impossible ad it may be, it might help persuade them. I hope to see your response soon! I won't be able to write back because I only can do it from my phone for the time being, it took me like 45 minutes to write all of this, whereas it normally would take me 10 at most. As such, I take no responsibility typos. :smileyvery-happy: My arms are tired. :smileyvery-happy:

Thanks!
I'll always be by your side.           You can always count on me.

I have no idea how DeMarco got the two recent acquisitions; but they both came from FUNI.  I can only assume that they are offering the lowest pick-up rates for their anime.

I noticed that that was their source right away; but then again, FMA:B came from there and Kekkaishi came from Viz.

Only FMA is worth watching out of all of their shows. Also, DRRR!! came from Funi, if memory serves...

Even if it doesn't air, there's always DVDs... For me, I don't see a problem. If they air it, awesomesauce. If they don't, so be it. InuYasha had a good long run for at least an entire decade. That's more than most anime shows, right?

I guess you're right, but keeping up its streak and giving it more attention would've been nicer. Part of it has to do with staying relevant and shutting trolls up.

In order to stay relevant, you have to ignore trolls, not shut 'em up.

Now, now Funi has several series I adore. DB/Z and Yu Yu Hakusho come to mind. Also DRRR wasn't Funi, it was Bandai I think.

Yep, that's right. But it's also with aniplex.

Well that's one way to do it... But to ignore them, you must give what they don't want- what the people they're trolling on want- so that they find out that their request hasn't been granted. THAT is shutting them up as well.

I could've sworn that I saw Funimation when I was watching on Hulu.

If I understood correctly, Aniplex does the dubbing, and companies like Viz and Funi distribute the products.

Maybe that wasn't the most accurate statement... There are other shows out there worth watching from Funi, but I don't remember them right now. But, in general, I'm not a fan of their work.

It's funny, as I posted that message, I was fighting with a troll on YouTube. He thought he was better than me because my videos have less than ten views and his have like five hundred. Psh. I was only 'picking' on him to let out some steam (I usually do that to trolls), but then he started to harrass me and my videos so I had to block them. He was one in a million; I've never seen a troll do that before...but then again, this was the first YouTube troll I messed with. To make a long story short, I'm a hypocrite. Eh.

I'd still ignore them if I were you. It's the best option, and should be the only option. Responding to them is what they want. I should know, I was one when I was a pre-teen.

No, aniplex distributes anime, too. They all do the dubbing and distributing.

Quanity over quality is the story of Funimation as an overall company.

Welcome back.  I'm glad you decided not to leave.

We don't really know much more about the InuYasha Final Act situation than we did before, so... yeah.

Though, I have to disagree with you on what you said about Funimation.

Hey everyone! It's been so long. Sorry that I haven't been able to check in. I just didn't get the chance to log in until now, but I hope everyone's doing well.

I'm afraid that my long absence has truly merited the title of this thread and that I need "a quick fill-in" as to what I've missed over these past 3 or so weeks. So... what did I miss?

Also, I saw something really interesting online regarding this show. On Wikipedia-which I acknowledge is not really reliable- they merely stated that this show is "not currently airing." However, other shows that had been removed from the action line-up in favor of the currect Toonami block were listed under the "dropped" category. This means that this show has only been bumped out of the current schedule, but that it is still a part of [as] programming and that it has not been permanently dropped. I know that Wikipedia isn't the most reliable site, but considering that this stuff is set in stone and there is a method to [as]'s madness, I think that this is a rather useful view as to whats' going on.

Also, sorry if this is rather incoherent. I'm dead tired at the moment...

Welcome back!

You didn't miss much - broadcast-wise.

However, gravekeeper has been in here with some great discussion; and ben has been outdoing himself in discussing the manga.

Welcome back!

And you switched to a Sango icon!  I can always appreciate that. :smileywink:

And thanks Doxie, for the mention/compliment. :smileyhappy:

By the way, take Wikipedia with a grain of salt.  But, I highly doubt that Inuyasha has been "dropped".  I still can't fathom their reasoning for Toonami being a repeat block.  Sure, that's how Adult Swim used to be at times, but this is Toonami!  Plus, the shows they are repeating now are a lot older, so a lot of us have less tolerance to see something for the umpteenth time, especially twice a night.  The way I see it, only the premieres should have encores.

I agree with that completely.  The block was getting much higher ratings in the 3-6 AM slot before Toonami premiered, despite everybody bragging about how well it is doing there now.  The numbers for Inuyasha at 5:30 AM were 200-300K higher than the slot is seeing right now.  That alone proves that a repeating block is ratings suicide.
