Bad news regarding InuYasha: The Final Act

[ Edited ]

On a bump tonight, [as] pretty much announced that The Final Act isn't their next anime acquisition.

They do have something new to "replace" Durarara!! (Hey, what about FMA:B?  And Kekkaishi??), but they don't seem to think it's any good.

And just for the record, I really hope Durarara!! gets a Durararerun (see what I did there?) at least once in 2012, 'cuz I'm sure FMA:B and Kekkaishi will finish theirs.

Here's the actual text of the bump:

[as]: Speculation about our last anime programming bump

[rumbatubbies-ok]: I hope it's Berserk, or Poop Genie

[as]: No, and no

[Dark_Lord_Khrima]: they have something to replace Durarara!!

[as]: Yes

[LLStarks]: I'd probably be able to tell instantly whether Tiger & Bunny or InuYasha Final Act are the shows

[as]: Mmmmno.

[Jeebus201]: They're not going to get anything.  Well, not anything good.

[as]: [yes]

This Saturday Night, on [adult swim]: TOONAMI'S BACK, BlTCHES!! A New Bleach Episode (255) kicks us off at Midnight, followed by the SERIES PREMIERES of Deadman Wonderland at 12:30 and Casshern Sins at 1! Then, we've got 3 back-to-back classics: FMA:B Episode 32 "Fuhrer's Son" at 1:30, followed by GITS: 2nd Gig Episode 17 "Red Data" at 2 and Cowboy Bebop Episode 15 "My Funny Valentine" at 2:30! Also, watch lots of [as] ACTN shows including Durarara!!, The Big O, and more online any time you want at http://video.adultswim.com/action/index.html

im pretty sure they said yes to jeebus question just to be funny. and jeebus will use this to prove a point (like that douche usally does). we still dont know when the final act has finished its dubbing. all we know is that it will just be on dvd in 2012 hell VIZ might not even give out the tv rights to adult swim, instead just release the series on dvd. oh and VIZ-MEDIA? you BETTER release this on a complete series dvd instead of splitting the series into parts like you're doing with bleach seasons 6 and up. i mean for christs sake its on 26 episodes!!

if i could live in RED DEAD REDEMPTION, my name would be VASH THE STAMPEDE

Well, there' s your problem right there!

It's called a loophole.  :smileyvery-happy:

Also, Starks said he would be able to tell instantly and they said he couldn't.  He never came out and asked directly if FA was going to be it.  :smileyvery-happy:

Under the assumption that [as]'s Twitter about the new anime is correct, then the next new anime starts with "Ah".

That aside, I'll still cross my fingers for InuYasha TFA to be aired on [as].

Jeebus actually made a bump? That troll actually made it on TV? Whoa...

Also, it not being their next acquisition could mean they had it already. Remember, that third anime never premiered.

As Doxie pointed out, there are quite a few loopholes that they took advantage of in these bumps to just be vague or smart and funny when responding. The variety in the language there definitely set the stage for an interesting round of Q and A with the purpose of keeping us guessing.

Here's my take on each of these:

[as]: Speculation about our last anime programming bump

[rumbatubbies-ok]: I hope it's Berserk, or Poop Genie

[as]: No, and no   Well, there you have it! A big fat clear no! That also negates the possibility that "Boku no Pico" (whatever the hell that is) was picked up, as some people in AD were claiming.

[Dark_Lord_Khrima]: they have something to replace Durarara!!

[as]: Yes Ok... Kinda worried about the fate of DRRR!! there. They probably just mean in terms of what's new and going to premiere, though, not a total replacement, so the theory that DRRR!! will hit reruns come 2012 could very well still stand. Kind of an obvious statement, though, which in turn merited an equally obvious response.

[LLStarks]: I'd probably be able to tell instantly whether Tiger & Bunny or InuYasha Final Act are the shows

[as]: Mmmmno. Ok. Vague/loophole territory ahead sailors! In this case, their answer was just mean to be a funny burn, though, just to catch Starks off-guard and get a few giggles from viewers. That's why they kept it a smartass version of no, and a simple one at that. Obviously, they just wanted to post responses to the announcement to begin with and didn't have any intention of formally announcing anything. Thus, they found a pretty specific statement like this that they could have fun with while still keeping things under wraps. Just speculation. As it was pointed out, there is not indication that either of these shows has or hasn't been picked up. They just wanted to be funny and say that he wouldn't be able to tell if they were picked up, an even funnier and. dare I say it, ironic twist for someone who seems to be on top of all of this.

[Jeebus201]: They're not going to get anything.  Well, not anything good.

[as]: [yes] The most vague answer yet! :smileyvery-happy: It could be a "Yes" to negate his statement, as in, "Yes, they are going to get something. Well, something good," which could be a good sign that TFA will make it on after all. There's also a chance that they just threw it out there for another funny moment to leave us scratching our heads. There's also another thing: Note how the yes is in brackets. Don't they normally do that for the last slide of a bump? None of the other responses were in brackets if you notice, so it's probably just a last slide of the bump thing. With that in mind, it's probably just a random thing they threw out there to wrap it up, not necessarily a response to that statement. Besides, they just wanted to share speculation made about the programming block, so not everything that they shared would necessarily have to get a response, especially since they want to still be vague. They probably threw the troll-ish comment to get different reactions, from laughs from the audience who doesn't know who he his, to anger from the people who recognize him as a troll, who I don't understand hasn't been banned yet.

I didn't see this bump.  All sounds very interesting.  But, it mostly sounds funny, as AS tends to be when teasing their fans.

But, wait, was that really the last episode of Durarara!! last Saturday?  It wasn't exactly much of an ending, was it?  Nothing was resolved.  If someone can confirm this please, then this means it is safe for me to go in to the DRRR folder since all the potential for spoilers will have passed, and I can discuss it again.

In any case, it's funny that those people got on the bump.  I wonder what Starks thinks of all this.  Again, I'd take most of it with a grain of salt.  AS making fun of and teasing their viewers used to be a pretty common thing when there were text bumps throughout the entire week.  This is just more of that.  Still hilarious, though, even if it is at our hopelessly frustrated heart's expense!

There is one more episode of Durarara!! left this weekend. And I don't think Durarara!! is leaving the schedule anytime soon, just leaving the 12:30 timeslot. Then again, everything but Bleach is taking a 2-week Christmas vacation. I just don't think DRRR!! will end up back at 12:30 once the new year begins. On normal Saturday nights, [as] wants 2 anime premieres, so the new anime will likely replace Durarara!! on January 7, but it will take over an earlier timeslot, most likely knocking FLCL or Bebop off the schedule (since Bebop's current run has already gotten screwed up due to some bizarre scheduling.)
Okay?  So was tonight's the last DRRR?  Because I'm still disappointed.  It doesn't really seem to have an ending...

Yeah they are doing special Bleach marathons for the Christmas and New Years.  Makes sense.  It's silly to air premiers when most people probably won't watch them.

Oh, so you're just guestimating, then?  I haven't even seen this bump so I can't speak to it too much, but don't think that just because they've got a new show it will air right away, just because there is an empty slot.  You should know by now that Adult Swim doesn't operate on logic.

I'll continue to tune to Adult Swim on Saturday, and if a new Anime comes on (after Bleach, I presume), I'll be pleased, but I won't expect it.  It's best to expect nothing either way, in this case.  And in life in general, really...

As for Final Act, at this rate it's starting to feel like an urban myth we all watched in our minds.  I do hope it comes to Adult Swim.  That would be a bit of a prick move if Viz made it so you had to get the DVDs to see the dub.  It wouldn't make any sense.  I mean, why leave the original InuYasha on all these years if you aren't going to bring Final Act to Adult Swim and finish things out right, for the fans?  But, to wait all the way until next year's Christmas time?!  I don't know if I can take that!

The only problem with that urban myth theory is that if you go to Hulu and look it up, it's there in full subtitled glory. It's very real.

Nonetheless, I remember feeling this way at the end of 2010, hopeful that we would see it sometime in 2011. Now that 2011 is over, I'm just as hopeful, perhaps more so, that we'll see it sometime in 2012. And I seriously doubt we'll have to wait until the Fall to see it. (I hope I'm right about that)...  But look on the bright side.  If it isn't coming yet, we get to see the Band of 7 Arc one more time!

I guess it could still be coming our way January 7, 2012, but to 12:30? I dunno...

Good news, everyone!  It turns out I totally misinterpreted which original bump this bump was referencing!  This is that bump right here:

http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/4362

So these "shows" that are mentioned in the bump were NOT picked up!  And it doesn't look like InuYasha: The Final Act is on there, which means it really MIGHT be directly replacing Durarara!! in the 12:30 slot on January 7, 2012.  I guess we'll know soon enough...

To be fair, they haven't been doing that for shows since Death Note (except FMA: Brotherhood).  Took'em 5 weeks to even give it a bump/ad (DN) on its premiere run.
