aaahhh Doxie you have to take care of yourself

Volume 18 finishes up the aftermath of the Juromaru fight & the big argument over Koga.  Then leads directly into Inuyasha's indiscretion with Kikyo.

After the battle with Kageromaru & Juromaru, Inuyasha looked more seriously hurt than in the anime.  He was truly furious with Koga for disrespecting him and for making a play for Kagome.

He wanted so badly to prove he was better than Koga, he would do anything, even fight at half strength.

His jealousy came out in some pretty strong insults directed at Kagome.  He wouldn't let Kagome treat his wounds.  He called Kagome's behavior disgusting.  He pushed her over the edge and then panicked when she got angry in return.

As Kagome went back to the well, Shippo told her what was obvious to him, that Inuyasha loved her but was just so insecure that he couldn't dismiss Koga as the insignificant nuisance he was.

Wow he pushes her? in the anime it just ends as them being mad and in teh manga it ends

with her leaving into the well?

He doesn't push her physically.  He just keeps pushing her buttons until she explodes.  He tells her what she did was so disgusting he couldn't watch, etc.  Just like a little kid.  In the manga, she takes him back to Kaede & then leaves down the well because he got her so mad and because he told her he didn't care if she left.  (The old double-dare.)

In the manga, when Inuyasha followed Kagome to the well, he was growling the entire time he was thinking about their fight.  As he cooled off, he stopped growling & got sad, especially when he realized that it probably was his fault. 

(That was a little funny, though.)

Well mostly it was about the Manga. A few times there discussion about other things, it's similar to the first timers thread only it's a Manga version of that.

I know that, I like this thread too, but I barely appear here though.

I take all the notes I wrote about a volume (10 chapters) and spread them out over the week.  Small doses.  Most of what I note is stuff that was different from the anime or explains something better than the anime did.

Ah, that would explain it. Hmm, I could always start a discussion about the Volume itself, but the fact is I've read the Manga 4 times so far and I guess I'm to lazy to read it again.

Well I thought of discussing the whole volume, but it's been done already, more or less.  So an anime-manga comparison seemed the next best thing, and a lot less work.  Keeping up 2 full discussion threads is a little bit too much.

Hmm, like I said I'm a little to lazy to do that, though I would love to discuss reading the whole Manga again, hmm, maybe.

Of course, you can jump in at any point.  Having read it & watched it, you wouldn't have much trouble finding where the manga is "at" if you picked up a random volume to read.

I know that, but I'm kind of to lazy to, summer is doing that to me, but I'll jump in here or there, like I usually do.

Summer is when I can get some free time.  Everybody else is away on vacation & there is no one to bother me.     Once things get busy, I won't be able to keep up so easily.

After reading the manga about Inuyasha's last 2 transformations and seeing the anime episodes three weeks ago, I have formulated another one of those crazy theories about him.  This looks to be a long post, so I'm going to put it in the First Timers thread with the anime stuff.  I stick all the long posts there.  (The dumping ground.  )

Here goes.  More Volume 18 stuff:

In the manga, Kikyo consciously ran toward her village, and Inuyasha, when Naraku's giant soul catcher attacked.  In the anime, it was presented as totally accidental.  She asked Inuyasha to take her to the sacred tree.

In the manga, Kikyo gives an additional explanation for Naraku's ruse.  Onigumo wanted her and was jealous of Inuyasha.  Naraku inherited those feelings.

Naraku had lied about destroying them.  He did not need to corrupt either Kikyo or Inuyasha to corrupt the jewel.  His own touch was enough.

Kikyo thought her spiritual powers were the best way to totally destroy Naraku.

Inuyasha did not feel as strongly about Kikyo as before but his jealousy flared at learning Naraku wanted Kikyo.  His protective instinct doubled and her love for him (or jealousy of Kagome) intensified.

There was NO knife scene or taunting, as in the anime.

Volume 18 had a lot of small variances between the manga and the anime.  Tonight's items:

The manga showed more consequences to Naraku cutting the scar from his back.  A retainer saw him do it and was killed by Naraku.  Kagura  got the job of cleaning up the mess.  (Not in the anime.)


This is the first time Kikyo went to Onigumo's cave to use the soil there as a shield.  The anime did not show this specifically, but it will come up eventually.  This was just the first instance of her doing it.

She protected herself with the soil and went to taunt Naraku with her new invulnerability.  (Why does she have to keep rubbing his face in it?  This is another exhibition of the hubris that got her killed in the first place.)
