Some like to think that her character gets weaker as the series continues. They say that she started off as a strong, indepentdent fighter and as the series progressed, she started to lose her tact because she started falling for Miroku.
I don't agree with that though. I feel that she found strength and comfort through Miroku, and ultimately, that made her a stronger person.
Her major Hiraikotsu upgrades that she gets after the bone monster encounter, especially when it goes right through Naraku's barrier and wipes that smug smile off of his face. I would argue Inuyasha is the weak link in the final battle as well. Sango clearly contributed more in that than Inuyasha did.
