Come to think of it, that may have been the reason he swore to kill his little brother in the first place.

Good point.  Inuyasha is definitely more the "good" one than Sesshomaru, and I agree that Sessy is 'just a very little bit bad (and very subtle, too).'  Sesshomaru is a fascinating character, and there are a myriad of levels and depth to his character.  He definitely not evil, like Naraku is, but can't truly be characterized as being good either.  He still walks that fine line, but like Inuyasha, even Sesshomaru is becoming more and more of a good guy as the series progresses (not much, granted, but little by little).  I almost think Rin is doing for Sesshomaru what Kagome is doing for Inuyasha, at least to some extent.

By the way, I'm really enjoying the whole sibling rivalry and love posts.  (The only reason I haven't replied to one yet is that I can't think of anything productive to add to that particular disscussion, but I am really impressed with your analysis!)

Now that you mention it, the more Sessy gains companions (Rin and Jaken), and the longer he stays with those companions, the less he seems to want to kill Inuyasha.

Really, really good point.  Didn't Jinenji say that Rin reminded him of Kagome?  I realize it wasn't a canon episode, but there really is a resemblance between them.

hey yeah that is true the way that Rin makes Sesshomaru look more like the good guy by traveling with a young girl

Kagome does change InuYasha a lot through out the show Like Kikyo said she filled in all those holes and changed him

Here are Sunday morning's episodes:

23  Naraku's Insidious Plot

24  Secret of the Jewel of Four Souls Revealed

Last Sunday, Sango was about to set forth to do battle with Inuyasha, who she mistakenly thought had massacred her village.

Revisiting the sibling rivalry theme, it seems that I have forgotten to mention another unlikely pair of "siblings", Kikyo & Kagome.  Yes, in a way they are.  They share the same soul.  They look like twins.  They are often in competition for the same thing, e.g., jewel shards & Inuyasha.  In almost every way, they are like sisters in a situation that mirrors Inuyasha & Sesshomaru (where Inuyasha = Tessaiga).  The older one wants what is obviously meant for the younger one and is angered by that object being unattainable.

Great observation there Doxie.  I never thought of the two of them being siblings, but you are right, they really are like siblings in many ways ... one thing though.  You aren't calling Inuyasha an object, are you? Poor, poor Inuyasha; he's a person too!  Lol, j/k.  :smileywink:  Oh, by the way, congratulations on ranking, Doxie!

By the way, some interesting but non-important things for people to watch for in these two episodes:

1.  In "Naraku's Insidious plot," while the gang is chasing Naraku, look at Shippo; he is wearing Sango's mask over his head!

2.  In "Secret of the Jewel of Four Souls Revealed," you find that Kagome's bike is in the village, but when the gang was first headed toward the demon slayer's village, she doesn't seem to have it with her.

Well, I just wanted to point out those two little oddities.  There are many important things that you will see tonight, too.   Well, I'll be back online later tonight, but just a reminder to all the anime fans, set your clocks ahead;  Inuyasha will be on at 5:00, but the time changes at 2:00 AM, so spring forward, and enjoy Inuyasha tonight!

Well, only after 1AM or 2AM (I'm 99.999% sure its 2AM, though).  So basically, I think at 2, it will be 3, and will therefor switch to the 3AM shows.  But don't take my word for it.  The YahooTV listings or the AS board listings should let you know what this means for the shows.  I think my assessment is correct, but I'd hate to be wrong and have someone miss out because of my assuming something that later turns out to be false.

Actually, I'm closer to calling Tessaiga a person.  It/he does seem to be alive, having been forged using Inuyasha's father's fang & therefore containing his DNA.  Also, have you noticed the way it reacts to the thoughts of the person holding it?  Yes, you're right about poor Inuyasha.  I've always thaought that that necklace he is stuck wearing reminded me of the old Roman slave collars.  The poor boy is indentured to his fate as a savior of the earth.  Destiny will not let him turn the role down.

As for Kikyo, she made the collar for him and, in death, seems to have no more regard for him than as for a possession she could not take with her beyond the grave.  Of course, we know that will change, but how & when is a big spoiler.

Thanks. Today is my 90-day-versary.

A few words about Midoriko.  We will be meeting her tomorrow morning.  Although physically little more than a dried-up, calcified corpse, she figures strongly in the story from now on.

From the little I know of Japanese, "midori"  means "green" and "ko" is a suffix that usually refers to a child.  I'm not quite sure what the reference is to combining them.  ("young green"? as in plant shoot or seed sprout?)

She was an extremely powerful priestess, more so even than Kikyo.  From what is said about her, she gave up her soul to create the sacred jewel, but her soul also resides in the limestone cave & keeps up the barrier there.  So not all of her soul is in any one place.  Interesting, huh?

She lived centuries ago during a time period to which the design of Inuyasha's Fire Rat robe belongs.  Makes me curious as to whether she ever met Inuyasha's father.  Interesting thought.

I have read, elsewhere, articles speculating that Kikyo may be her reincarnation as Kagome was Kikyo's.  I'm not so sure that is true.  However, parts of her soul may have transmigrated to others piecemeal.  However, that is purely speculation with not a lot of support.

Speaking of speculation, I have a lot of unsupported theories about Midoriko; but I won't mention them, just yet.  Let's meet her first.
