After Inuyasha defeats the lecherous monk, Miroku tells the gang how he received his curse: from the demon Naraku who is also in search of the jewel shards.
Trivia: This is the first episode to mention Naraku.

Synopsis: Kaede reveals that, 50 years ago, she and Kikyo took care of a bandit named Onigumo in a nearby cave. The brigand lusted for Kikyo and gave his body to demons for a chance to satisfy his desire, turning him into the powerful demon, Naraku. This same Naraku now sends a demon after InuYasha in the hopes of defeating him while he's still injured. Meanwhile, in the present, Kagome goes back to school, but can't stop thinking of InuYasha.

Naraku's True Identity Unveiled

Synopsis: Kagome is stuck in her own time and she's still missing Inuyasha. So in an attempt to prove to herself that she doesn't, she agrees to go out on a date with Hojo. In the feudal era Inuyasha is battling Royokan. Still injured, he's having trouble defeating the beast. We then see little Shippo being chased through the forest with the Shikon No Tama in his hand. Eluding Royokan's wolves, that had been chasing him, he takes shelter down inside the well. Kagome senses the jewel in the well and is transported back to the Feudal Era when she tries to reach it. Naraku turns up and reveals to Inuyasha why he holds such a grudge towards him. Sensing trouble Naraku releases a cloud of destruction. Inuyasha is caught in it, but still manages to strike at Naraku with his Tessaiga. The shirt on Naraku's back is ripped open to reveal a scar shaped like a Spider. Naraku escapes, leaving Inuyasha bitter and frustrated.

| Synopsis: A band of warriors known as the demon exterminators arrive at a castle to defeat the demons that infest the place. Everything seems to be going smoothly until Kohaku, the youngest and newest demon exterminator, suddenly turns on his allies and kills them. His sister, Sango, another demon exterminator, is forced to stop him. After this horrifying event, the prince of the castle informs the fatally wounded Sango who was behind these events: The half demon InuYasha. Angry and saddened by the loss of her brother and friends, she sets off with a jewel shard in hand (given to her by the prince) and vows revenge on InuYasha.
Trivia: On Adult Swim, the epsiode was incorrectly titled "Enter Sango, The Demon Exterminator."
