I thought I was screwed either way, with no 480p option on the Shonen Sunday site, and no subtitles on Hulu!  But it seems there was a way to Adamant Barrage myself out of this problem after all! :smileytongue:

So I just watched the first episode.

My reaction:

What!?!? :smileyindifferent:

I have no idea what is going.....who is that goryonmrou (I know I mispelled it) person?

Also,

What? :smileyindifferent:

I'm so confused. :smileyvery-happy:

Is this going to be translated to English at all?
I saw the other 167 episodes all in English and the Japanese audio irks me greatly.

I believed they worked the bugs out (hulu subtitling, etc.) this week, so I'd have to say 7 ET/6 CT.

At least, that's what I'm hoping for, because that falls right between the 3:30 ET/2:30 CT and the 7:30 ET/6:30 CT football game!

So when can we start discussing the new episode?  Isn't the usual guideline 12 hours after it premieres?  (Which would be tomorrow if my math is correct.)

Anyway, here are my impressions:

PRESENTATION: 7.0 - I think Viz did a good thing getting Hulu to host it in the long run, but this week was "get the bugs out" week, and it showed.

ANIMATION: 9.0 - Just as good as toward the end of the original series, maybe a little bit better!

STORY: 9.5 - Some are saying it's a little rushed, but I just don't get it!  Makes for lots of action, and you can just barely count the number of action scenes on one hand!

MUSIC: 9.0 - Really good to hear these themes again with new animation!  They didn't take the Brotherhood route of completely rewriting the score.  And the OP/ED are good too!

TRANSLATION: 8.5 - I'm pretty sure there will be some complaints by fansubbers, but the translation was fairly consistent with fans of the dub.

OVERALL: 8.5 - Keep up the good work!  Can't wait for SESSHOMARU next week! :smileyvery-happy:

Oh, and BTW, my current icon more correctly conveys my current feelings about the stream!

STORY: 10.0 I liked the story. :smileyhappy:

Since the times the streams pop up seem to be unstable, discussion should begin about an hour after they do.  Once the times are finally set in stone, depending on if it's really, really late that it gets posted, then I'll probably have discussion begin 30 minutes after it's over.

Also, this week shouldn't have been a "Getting the bugs out week", they should have had everything up and running smoothly by now.

Bwuh? I remember almost everything from the old series (though I only really remembered Moryomaru showing up in one or two scenes in the first series), yet for pretty much the whole middle third of the episode, I really had no idea whatsoever what was going on.

**SPOILERS FROM THE EPISODE BEYOND THIS POINT**

In fact, I still have no idea why Kagura felt she needed to fight Kohaku for no reason in the first place, nor do I have any clue why she suddenly decided she no longer needed to fight Kohaku but rather help him escape. I don't know what relevance Koga had to anything or why everybody suddenly had a hard on for getting their hands on Naraku's heart for no apparent reason. Also, considering how constant and incessant the flashbacks, explanations, and "oh yeah, we were just doing this five minutes ago" reminders to the audience in the first series were, I found it bizarre that there was absolutely nothing in any way to bring people up to speed or even, at the very least, serve as scene setting after the five year gap between episodes.

It really was like they were doing episode 168 (well, knowing how the first series worked, more like 168, 169, 170, and 171) and 167 had just aired a week or two ago. And even then, they would have had a recap either before or after the OP. :smileyvery-happy:

The production value of the thing was definitely way up from the first series, though, and closer to what the movies were like. I don't know if that's just because it was episode 1 or if it will be that way throughout, but that, at least, was nice.

Also, hearing Straw Hat Pirates scattered throughout the cast makes me laugh.

How many volumes did they pack into this one episode? It's like Inuyasha on A.D.D.

Anyways, I'm so glad the anime is back, and I'm glad they kept the original BGM.

Episode 1 - Naraku's Heart.

Great start. Episode is now up on Hulu and on shonensunday.com with full subs from Viz.

The new OP and CL songs are  terrific. Great to see all the orginal actors back in there roles. So I don't have to mark spoilers I will give my full

thoughts in around 24 hours.

Will have to double check but it seems like it was most of volume 37. The skiped the medicine man storyline.
