InuYasha The Final Act being looked at for Toonami

[ Edited ]

InuYasha The Final Act is being looked at/was talked about for Toonami DeMarco said, this means we should still expect it in the future. Maybe when Deadman Wonderland finishes up its run? Either way, it was mentioned and I take this as a sort of step in the right directon for when they can get more money for new shows in the (hopefully) near future.

DeMarco said this on Adult Swim's press release, specifically the last show for Final Act:

Toonami will not have original titles created specifically for the programming block, "just new acquisitions." DeMarco said that he personally "love[s] One Piece and would love to see it on CN again" along with Gundam Wing. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Fairy Tail, and Inuyasha: The Final Act are some of the "many shows we've been looking at" or discussed.

They would be foolish not to pick up the Final Act. Airing it back to back with Bleach would presumably be a bonanza. I would imagine that it would cost a pretty penny, though, and Toonami is on sort of a tight budget. I'd bet someone 5:1 that it ends up on Toonami.

I expect it to air after Deadman Wonderland completes its run, 12:30 after Bleach is the perfect time slot like you said

Sure, then move Deadman Wonderland to 2am to replace GITS.

I still hope it airs, but each week with no announcement makes me more skeptical that it will.

I hope we at least get something before the end of July or so, we already know Viz Media's September DVD release schedule and Final Act isn't on it :/ Its only Pokemon Set 3 and Bleach 14 I think.

The DVD was announced for Fall.  Although it starts on September 21st, November or even December are more likely for release dates.

And if the DVD comes out first, ratings will suffer.  Even if the DVD comes out a month or two after airing, ratings will not be as good.  It would be easier to just wait for the DVD (or Blu-ray) and get an unedited experience.

InuYasha's never been heavily edited, and there's no reason to believe the Final Act would be too.  There were some "zoom" shenanigans to cut out objectionable parts going on in the early episodes, but I don't think we'll see much of that in The Final Act.

Is the WHOLE DVD set announced for Fall?  The earliest it could appear on [as] is August, so if it's to be released serially from 2012-2013, it may still beat it by a wide margin as Bleach does.

This Saturday, TOONAMI begins on a discordant note once again with Bleach stuck in Filler Hell with Episode 299 at midnight, but then after that, it's Naruto uncut Episode 27 "Special Report: Live From the Forest of Death" at 12:30. Then, it's Toonami's newest addition One Piece at 1 with Episode 208 and Soul Eater follows that at 1:30 with Episode 14 "Super Written Exam - Heart-pounding, Reeling, and Restless...?quot; Next is IGPX Episode 5 "Come Together" and Eureka 7 follows that at 2:30 with Episode 39 "Join The Future." ThunderCats is still roaring at 3 with Episode 7 "Legacy", then Sym-Bionic Titan plays "The Ballad of Scary Mary", Episode 11 &at 3:30; FMA: Brotherhood continues Season 2 with Episode 28 "Father" at 4 AM, and Cowboy Bebop reprises with "Ballad of Fallen Angels" Episode 5 at 4:30. Finally, if you stay up until 5 AM you're in for a treat: the "Fateful Night in Togenkyo" arc, Episodes 57 & 58 of premiere uncut InuYasha!

No one really knows how Viz plans to release it, in Japan it had like three different versions released. It had the single volumes, 2 sets both containing 13 episodes and I think it even had a complete series release. Any 3 of what I said above are possibly, call me crazy but I'd love the single volumes because its how I bought the original series, box sets weren't available when I was collecting the series, plus when the sets came out I just said screw it and continued with the singles.

Single releases you also get the nice front and back artwork, a decent insert and maybe an extra or two? Plus I feel it makes the series take longer to release, so it feels a little more than it really is.

But yeah, besides a fall release nothing has been confirmed or said.

The OP's were cut from all but 3 of the episodes, and several scenes of nudity were completely cut.  The only zoom cut that I know of was in episode 16, where Miroku was introduced.  However, Inuyasha reaching Kagome in the hot spring in the same episode was completely cut.  Also, Inuyasha extracting himself from the un-mother was cut, as was Naraku rebuilding his new body on the mountaintop in episode 32.  Even the music score had a dropout then.

Also, Viz announced a DVD/Blu-ray release; but they didn't say how.  So we have no idea if it will be single discs spread out over the next year, or one single box set, or anything in between.

The DVDs for Final Act were released as 7 single discs, each containing 4-5 episodes.  The "box set" consisted of an empty box that came with the 7th disc which could hold the entire collection.  The only other variation was a "deluxe" version of the first disc that contained a bonus CD of the VA's talking about the new production, and the music it contained.

The large box set you are thinking of is probably the "Black Tessaiga" OVA which was a commemorative of the Rumic World event that premiered the OVA.  It contained all 3 OVA's, for IY, Ranma 1/2, and Mermaid Saga, plus figurines of the hero of each show and a souvenir booklet.

As far as the English versions go, Viz has been notably cryptic about it and hasn't released any details.

While I'd like a one box release of the entire series my guess is it'll be 2 sets. I certainly hope the first release isn't in singles. That seems so very...antiquated to me despite the fact that that's how the Japanese release was.

FMA:B was released as individual parts, at first; and I recently saw a full series box set on Amazon.  Even with the first Inuyasha series, the full season box sets came out a long time after the original DVD's, as much as 3 years after the broadcast for season 7.  So I think a box set will come out eventually; but not at first.

Oh a box set will definitely come eventually. I already knew about the Inuyasha singles, and I waited patiently for box sets as I'm not made of money. The thing is I'd buy the Final Act as one or two sets, but not singles. I bought FMA: Brotherhood in those 13 episode sets(still need the final one though.) I know it'll be released in sets eventually, but I've already waited long enough and like you said if they release singles first that just means more waiting...

The status quo with Viz seems to be 11-13 episode sets. So InuYasha: The Final Act will probably initially be released as "Volume 1" and "Volume 2". I'd say Volume 1 comes out in November, while Volume 2 comes out in February 2013. There's likely still enough time for most if not all the material on Volume 1 to show on [as] beyond Deadman Wonderland or elsewhere.

But isn't it funny that Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins are actually NEWER than InuYasha: The Final Act?

Viz must be asking an awful lot of money for the FA property.

You know they want to milk it for everything they can, its been almost 3 years since its aired so they are either waiting for some network to offer tons of money for it (which only adult swim would want it at this point) or they are just terribly lazy for no reason.

Well folks, if InuYasha: The Final Act IS coming to Toonami soon, we oughta hear something about it at AX (Anime EXpo) next weekend. All eyes on LA...

Not expecting it, Viz keeps things on the down low until like the day before something happens, if they even say anything.
