InuYasha Wiki Discussion

[ Edited ]

So I'm sure everyone has noticed a number of people getting new ranks, etc.  Simply put, we finally have our official status as HELPeRs.  This also means we won't rank anymore and that the Wikis will finally get going.  And this is where you guys come in.  This shouldn't be a solo act by any means, so we should collaborate with one another, that way everyone has some input on the Wikis.  And like always, there are to be no spoilers.  Anyway, a few guidelines:

1.  Wiki threads will be Read Only.  We'll discuss what to have in them, then me, mookielady (MookieIYHELPeR), or DoxieMoxie will edit them accordingly.

2.  Only information from the first InuYasha series and the four movies will be going in.  This means nothing from The Final Act will be going in.  The main reason(s) is It hasn't made it over to America yet, and has MAJOR spoilers, so that will have to wait.  Also, the movies will be of much less concern than the series itself, but it will get covered eventually.

3.  With The Final Act currently airing over in Japan, I don't actually know when we will be able to begin discussion for wiki-related stuff, but there will definitely be an announcement for that, when and if the time should come that it comes to Adult Swim.  In the meantime, there are a couple of floated threads dedicated to discussion of The Final Act.

4.  Being the long series that it is, an episode guide may take a little time.  The descriptions won't be essays, but at least something to give everyone a good idea of what the episode in question is/was about.  Also, if allowed (and I believe we are), there may be an image nearby from the preview of the next episode, which isn't spoilery.  But as I mentioned before, this will only go up to the end of the first series and nothing past that.  However, I'll at least keep a record of episode air dates/titles, new characters, DVD releases... Things like that, for when the time comes.

Anyway, as far as that goes, I think I have caps up until about episode 31 and from a few episodes later on in the series.  But my computer has gone all crazy, so I'll need help in that department (and the supplier will get credit for doing so).  Also, there probably will be some other things, DVD releases, the plethora of fansites, and whatever else there may be.  But we'll get to that later on.

This just might be an arduous task, and again, we need help, so let's throw some ideas around and see what we can come up with. :smileyhappy:  Anyway, I think a character guide might be a good place to start, but we can discuss a little on that beforehand.  I'll be the first to admit, I need to go back through what I have to learn about the characters again. :smileyvery-happy:  Anyway, I should wrap this up and get this show on the road.

If everyone is in agreement, we could start with covering Inuyasha?

I second that.

Also, as far as episode guides are concerned, I know that it may be a while before the wiki gets to that point, but how much detail do you think we can go into?  If you've checked out the first timers thread, we can really get in depth over there, and we analyze in depth sometimes.  So are you thinking along the lines of what you might find on TV guide about the episodes, something like what we have in FT'ers, or something kind of in the middle? :smileyhappy:

Also, when talking about, say Inuyasha, would you concider talking about some of the moves he's learned (in the confines of the first show, of course) to be spoilers since some of those moves haven't been learned yet in the present airing?

Anyways, sounds like a good idea to have a wiki.  I look forward to helping out with that. :smileyhappy:

I'll have to check out the First Timer's thread, but I'm guessing that it goes into more detail than TV Guide does.  TV Guide only gives one or two lines, if that.  I'm thinking a little more than that, which might be in the middle, but at the same time not going too in-depth.  As in spoiler territory.  I mean, I might end up vaguely referencing something spoilery, but I'll try not to just blantantly say "This happens to [character] at such and such a time" or something similar.

For now I'm thinking more along the lines of the character itself.  But yeah, eventually his attacks and such would come into it.

We have 2 discussions going on concurrently in the First Timers thread.  One is a detailed synopsis of each episode after it airs; but the other is a Pre-airing Teaser.  What you want is more likely in the teasers.  It's a couple of lines for each episode and sets up a plot question to be answered by watching the ep.  If you want to fill in more than that, you can extract phrases from the recaps.  Your library awaits; (but you have to wait for each episode to air in the current schedule for us to add to it).

This idea is stupid as hell unless post-anime stuff gets in. Viz's manga releases are already at volume 43 (anime ended at 36) and that much at the very least should be allowed to make the cut.

Stop sheltering people and include what needs to be included.

I like this idea. I'd like to do a few of the character descriptions, if you'd let me.

The whole point of this thread is to just give out some of your ideas on what you think should be in the InuYasha Wiki and what shouldn't. Get it now?

Inuyasha:

He is one of the main characters (Along side Kagome) of the series.

He's a half demon.

His age is unknown but he is according to Rumiko Takahashi the equivalent of a 15 year old.

His most distinguishing features are his white dog ears of the top of his head.

On the night of the new moon it's revealed that turns human until day break the next day.

He is the half brother of Sesshoumaru.

His mother is human, her name is Izayoi

His father is a full demon though his name is never revealed throughout the series,

Using that would be too easy, we should do this ourselves. :smileytongue:

We could use it for references, but I think we should do most of the work ourselves.

Right now I'm just posting basic info about Inuyasha, that's mostly all were supposed to do in this thread post basic info and then afterwards everything will be put together to make the Wiki.

I would put up an entire paragraph on the subject but I thought it best to do it the way I did it above to allow more people to add onto the list.

Sango

She is one of the main characters

She is a Demon Slayer

I’m not to sure how old she is

She has a brother named Kohaku

She has a large Boomerang called Hiraikotsu, and she also has many different potions, and weapons to subdue demons

She also has a demon cat named Kirara

She first appeared in episode 24 “Enter Sango, the Demon Slayer”

I thought that I would try this, is this what you are kind of looking for? I used Inu's Inuyasha post as a guideline.
