Kagome Higurashi is the lead female character in the Inuyasha manga and anime. She is one-half of the lead team, namely Inuyasha (the title character) and herself. She is a 15 year old schoolgirl in 1996-7 Tokyo. Absolutely normal, she harbors a few secrets even she doesn't know about, including the ability to travel 500 years to the past, where she meets the half-demon boy Inuyasha and starts a great adventure with him.
