So, doxie, I know you've mentioned it before, but how do I get those characters to look like Japanese characters?  To me, they are just boxes with numbers in them.

theres a thing called google translators...try googling it i have a katakana chart that tells me what symbols mean cuz i gots teh japanese class, but i cant translate japanese words yet

Google translator doesn't work very well, actually.  It is sometimes capable of translating the very basics, but aside from that, it is unreliable.  I'm not talking about translations, though; I'm talking about the symbols themselves.  My friend Inuyashafan explained to me that you have to have you computer set up specifically to view the symbols, or it will look like the boxes I'm describing.

Anyways, it would be nice to see the actual symbols for Kagome's name instead of just  [3048], [3054] and [3081]

Here's the secret.

Go to "Help and Support Center" on your Start Menu and type "Install IME" into the search box.  You will then get instructios on how to install the conversion utility (IME) and a second set of instructions on how to set up the Language Bar at the bottom of your computer screen.

Once your set up, open Notepad and type Alt+Shift (left side of keyboard only).  That key shortcut changes from English to Japanese.  Then you open the Language Bar and set Input to Hiragana and Conversion to No Conversion (otherwise the IME will start giving you random Kanji symbols based on its own crazy logic).

Then all you have to do is type in the Japanese word using Romaji (Roman) spelling.  Kagome will automatically convert to the 3 kana's as you type.
