Gahhh. I couldn't even imagen. Like, Kagome and Kikyou look way similar in the manga than the anime. So it really isn't that hard to tell them apart. : T

Yeah, that's what the literal translation comes out to be.
But a lot of people use the American version KIkyo, which is understandable. c:
Like how Sesshomaru's name is really Sesshoumaru when it comes to the literal translation.

ききょう　in Hiragana is more appropriate for Japanese names, or in her case:  桔梗.  Katakana is used more for foreign names.

uggh, i HATE American translations for 日本語 words... I absolutely REFUSE to use Japan(ese) unless i'm explaining what　日本（語　人 etc) is or in situations like this. I saw the american twitter account for a 日本人 newspaper and they used Japan in a sentence. Bottom line is I freaked out on them. Almost blocked them. Yeah i hate american translations sometimes. For example... 円 vs. "Yen," dont even get me started on that...

You do know that even Yen is wrong.  It should be En.  It got Anglicized somewhere along the line.  And I can't even get my IME to flip to Japanese and stay there for 5 minutes.  When I finally do, it won't flip back and stay that way.  Worst of all, I keep forgetting how to get the conversion list when I want to get the kanji.  I had to go to LearnJapanese.com in order to copy it.
