Your post more describes why you hate other shows (or manga really) rather than why you enjoy Kekkaishi except for paragraph 3 and 5, which are significantly shorter than your other paragraphs. Paragraph 3 actually does speak toward the show, and it provides some reasoning behind why the show itself is good. The fifth though is very, very much more personal in that you enjoy the show specifically because it reminds you of certain people in your life. And to that, I am so sorry that you know someone just like Yoshi. Really, I sincerely offer my sympathy.

But personally, I'm not a manga purist. I have never read a single manga. So I'm not very concerned how much, for instance, FMA:B cuts from it. But I wholely disagree that FMA:B feels shallow, empty, or anything along that line. I can't even begin to fathom how someone doesn't react to character's deaths, like Hughes or Lust, the story behind Ishval, the substatially stronger dialog, the significantly more imposing villians, like Wrath (the Fuhrer), the framing of each scene, and even the music especially when Envy transformed. Everything about FMA:B to me is vastly superior to Kekkaishi.

But I hate to do this side-by-side comparison. I much rather look at an anime for its own qualities without being swayed by what FMA:B or Dragonball did because they're different. What works for one does not necessarily mean it will work for another. What I can say for sure is that I really don't care for the characters of Kekkaishi, its story, nor its non-sense villians that sit around while proclaiming how important it is to win that night's fight. And a variety of other reasons that.. most here are tired of hearing, so I won't go into that.

And yeah, someone who has 3 names on any given forum is a troll. I mean, why do you need 3 names Ben0119, SoulGovernorichmaru, and Hollow_Gojira?

Personally I like Kekkaishi but in my opinion it is no where near as good as FMA or Bleach.  Others have mentioned other truly great shows such as Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. These shows start out strong and stay strong. Kekkaishi was a little weak at the beginning. Getting better now but not strong enough at the beginning to really be compared to some of these other shows.

you have a point. But you have to admit its a bit over the top to dedicate a thread to it, especially when there's already a thread with the same sentiments and a similiar title that is still relatively active. But I guess if we felt ben was trolling we should have just left it alone rather than play around.

On the subject I agree it's been getting better and the weak beggining might not be such a problem if the series were longer. 52 episode series tend to be my favorite number, but if you have a longer story to tell, and think it's good, then have more episode. What if dragonball had ended in 50 episodes? I really would like to see more of some characters but there's just not enough episodes left now, Plus like shows like naruto the side charachters are more intriguing than the main ones lol.

Kekkaishi does have some interesting characters that we don't know anything about. It might have been a stronger show if it had started with some of these character bios, or maybe if it had gone back and forth between the main story and these characters so that we would have more interest when they come around at the end. I don't feel like I know the characters at all, other than the main ones.

yea I mean look at masa, quite possibly the most popular character on the show if the board is any indication. It literally teases you with the whole night troops setup. I really would like to see a show that feature's the brother of the "chosen by destiny" hero. Would be a change. Or just have him as more of a main character. Can't remember any show's that did that, though I'm sure they exist.

Alright, I'll do it your way.

I hate this show. It is an unapolegetic kids show with none of the ironic humor or nostalgia present in a Pee Wee's Playhouse or Saved by the Bell. I hate the characters, I hate the generic music, I hate the generic, non-exciting battles. And above all, I hate the horrific immaturity oozing through every pore. That is, if I were to view this show objectively. Therefore, I find the OP wrong on every front.

The primary enjoyment I have gotten out of Kekkaishi has been making fun of it, at which point it approaches the standards of The Room for best unintentional comedy. As if the author was doing a parody of shounen tropes with horrible everything played straight. Then it works and quite well. I think the show would work better with more ironic ads, or if you're really feeling adventurous, Space Ghost bumps.

I gave up on Kekkaishi because it turned out to be "adventures of a patisserie who just happens to be a ghost catcher." Just not my cup of tea.

Early Adult Swim Anime about a Giant Blue Bugs having taken over the future.  A guy wakes up in a time freeze in this dystopian world.. and voiced by the same guy as Future Trunks, of course... it's full of mechs, kid and other cute things dying, Alien and Starship Troopers rip offs, whining, oh... and whatserface... the one who plays 18, Lust, and Tokine, plays the female lead.  Decent show... pretty... okay it's bad.

Yes, all top lists are biased, but my top 20 for best Anime series is the least biased I can make it.  There is a difference between best, and personal favorite.  I am well aware that Monster is the best Manga and Anime, in existence, but Dragonball is what has captured my heart.  I love little Goku and his friends.  Plus, Laura Bailey has like fifty roles in the franchise!  What's not to love?

Blue Gender isn't mentioned very often for a reason.  It's bad... it tries to be something profound and shocking, and scary... it's just... it's just BAD.  Like, the first Evil Dead torture you upon your seat worse than Gitmo to watch the POS bad... Okay, NOTHING is as bad as that... well, Street Fighter and MK: Annihilation are worse... but Blue Gender is a step away from self torture.  Okay... it's not that bad either... it does have good moments, and has decent action and OK story.  Like I said, blah and forgettable.  Dime a dozen, really.
