I'm well over the age of 13 and I enjoy Kekkaishi.
I understand where you're coming from, I just think your assesement of the show is clearly skewed since you were out to hate it in the first place.
But what's really surprising to me is that you act like this wasn't expected. [as] hasn't cared about anime for years and Kekkaishi was obviously a throw-away that was probably the result of Viz pushing for it. It's not "hostility towards the viewer," it's a simple lack of interest and profit. [as] doesn't go out and search for good shows, if something comes to them they consider it, but comedy has been consistently more profitable. Anyone expecting anything from [as] in the anime department is a fool. And to be completely honest, it's rather fitting that they put a kids show on an adult block considering that all the people here whine like little children anyway, yourself included.

He just said "Thinking anything Adult Swim picks up is going to be good is stupid and childish."
The why keep the block around? I'm sure you could air some Brak reruns and no one would bat an eye because only an idiot would watch Adult Swim for the anime.

The only reason I watch [adult swim] is for the anime and I'm no idiot. I don't watch the stuff they've been getting lately, though...

That's pretty much what he said because I called Kekkaishi a piece of crap. Expecting Adult Swim to be anything but a crap factory is too much to ask for, which does beg the question of why they keep the block.

I guess it's because they don't want to lose roughly half their fanbase. Other than The Venture Bros. I'd be done with [as] if they killed the action block...

Haters Gotta Hate.![]()
Personally, I would love for a Kekkaishi Season 2. I would love to see all the rest of the manga animated.![]()
It's true though. Adult Swim doesn't care about anime.
The only show that I am actually looking forward to that has a story, action, and whatnot, is Avatar: Legend of Korra.
Nothing else is on tv.

So the only show you're looking forward to...is another children's show.
Way to prove my point.

I see, I see.
So, you would never watch Avatar the Last Airbender because it is for "Kids"?

Well, I think the real blame then is American Censorship.
Look at this. Kekkaishi is aimed for kids to tweens in Japan.
But think of Kekkaishi in American television. Would you really see Kekkaishi being aired in Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, or Cartoon Network?
If it somehow did, Kekkaishi would be heavily censored and cut. I think that was why it aired on Adult Swim. Adult Swim is the only way Kekkaishi can air on tv without being censored.
Shows like Bleach and Fullmetal Brotherhood are also aimed for tweens and up. And they are only aired on Adult Swim.
Heck, Fullmetal and Bleach would NEVER air on Disney Channel, Nickeolodeon, or Cartoon Network.
Digimon which is DEFINITELY for kids is CENSORED in Disney Channel. DIGIMON!!! If a show as light as Digimon gets censored, what chances does a show like Kekkaishi have on Disney Channel?
Ultimately, the only place Kekkaishi could have aired uncensored is Adult Swim.
Digimon rules!!!!![]()

That was back in the day. Censorship is heavier now.
Well, it seems the higher ups thought Kekkaishi needed to hit airwaves. They seemed to really like Kekkaishi and seemed to favor that over the other "hundreds of more deserving shows".

What does that have to do with anything?
Whether or not FMA Brotherhood was a good show, not to mention successful (it was a ratings failure) has nothing to do with Kekkaishi being a piece of garbage with no redeeming value, nor the fact that the show was thrown on as an afterthought because Adult Swim figures they can throw any cartoon from Japan and it will attract the same people (that only works for Shounen Jump properties) or that even if people aren't watching, it will still satisfy the "Air anime on Adult Swim while I go download all the stuff I watch" crowd. And that is proof that the block is worthless.

I'm saying airing a block for the sake of airing it is stupid and that airing kiddie crap like Kekkaishi is proof they don't care.

You can't really blame them though. If I owned a network that makes 99% of their money from comedy shows, I wouldn't care much about anime. I would give anime to just give anime. It's business.
