Why are Yoshimori and Tokine the only ones...

who defend that school? I get that they are heirs to some clan or whatever but aren't there more powerful and experienced people who can help? The both of them always seem to be getting their butts kicked whenever someone tries to invade. Isn't it wiser to use a better defensive team than just going by tradition?

The best shows are always short lived.

That is EXACTLY the reason why the only people who defend the school are Yoshimori and Tokine. Tradition states that only the Legitimate Heirs can defend the school.

Hence, this is why Masamori left home and started the Night Troops. We all know Masamori is a much more powerful Kekkaishi then Yoshimori and Tokine, but he is not allowed to defend the school.

Here is a good example. Say, your family has 1 car and is not allowed to buy another car and only the "Legitimate" Heir of your family, which is your little brother, can drive the car. You drive the car first because your little brother is too young. Your little brother turns 16 and is finally able to drive.

From that day forward, you are no longer able to drive that car. You might be a great driver and your little brother might be a terrible driver. That doesn't matter. Traditions state that only your little brother can drive.

Wouldn't you be like "Duck that", "Im outta here."?

This is why Traditions usually get outdated as time goes on. If Masamori was defending the site instead of Yoshimori, Gen would have lived and the Kokoburo would have easily been taken care of.

Not necessarily, Tokine's father didn't have the houin, and he got killed on nightly duties.

That's probably why Gen, being half-ayakashi, was assigned to that school. The fight was gonna get much too difficult than Yoshimori and Tokine could handle.

Because, if you brought out the heavy arty, there wouldn't be a story line.  If you brought out "Dora" or "Gustav" (largest arty ever made, and second in calibre only to Mons Meg, IIRC) then you wouldn't need the little .22 shorts that these two kids are.

You'd never find out about the cake fetish.  The "thing" that Yoshi has for Tokine.  Or ultimately, the run-down Japanese castle that falls in on itself

Yeah, Yoshi's crush on Tokine kinda fell by the wayside, especially when he got a revenge-#### for Kaguro.

Well we can just assume that for some strange reason they are considered the strongest. Why is it that he can only make a cube kekkaishi? why can't he do what tokine can do? I just never understood why he can't do anything useful at all. He can jump increadibly high, unless he is getting chased. He can run increadibly fast, unless he is getting chased. And for some strange reason he can't figure out how o make a friggin knife or sword or something to defend himself? To me he shouldn't be thehier, he should be kicked out of the family. But then again, I can't make invisible cubes with my mind, so I guess I'm not very useful either.
