I didn't see it at first, but the first episode was a great start for the show looking back, but then again who could predict what was coming in following years...?

I think they ran it into the ground and, by doing so they demoralized it.Fox does that a lot with a show they get that's hot. Adult Swim is doing the same thing.

I think, like most shows, it ran its course in about 4-5 seasons. After that, it was still entertaining enough to watch, but they had basically already done all they could do with the characters. It became a little hit-or-miss after that.

But if you compare the first season to, say, the 8th, it's like you're watching a different show. The humor was definitely far more subtle in the early days.

I agree the paced changed in later seasons, but I think it always had the same spirit and style of comedy although it didn't come out of it's shell until about season 4 or 5, but it was a fairly low budget show at least early on. I think the show kept getting better with age the characters evolved and the dynamics of the episode plots expanded, and I think they held off on some humor when it started. Although I will agree a few episodes in the later seasons did feel kind of stale but in my book most of the episodes were hits, very few misses.

That's just my opinion, I am a fan of the later seasons. I was just saying who knew where the characters would be by the time it ended. I honestly think the show aged well and I enjoyed the ride from start to finish.

Well in the beginning it seemed the show had a continuum, and things subtly panned out and changed over episodes. I mean, Bobby was 11 when the show started and soon became 13. These subtleties died out in later seasons. I think the show remained fairly consistent in quality over the years, compared with other shows like The Simpsons which should have died many many many years ago.
