I am trying to remember back, but I cannot really find where it went for being more character driven to the ** Yo Jo e! ** it has now.   You kids might not remember, but back in the day [adult swim]  had much different programming.  Back in the "all kids out of the pool" days.  Back in the painted barn days.  Then a whole bunch of ** Yo Jo e! ** came along and we jumped into this period of no context humor.  This was before "Family Guy" I would say.  But "Family Guy" on [adult swim] just made things worse.  "Family Guy" fits [adult swim] perfectly and I think that is what the target audience wants.

I am not looking down on this, just saying is all.  I have laughed at "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" before it got too [adult swim]y.  I watched some episodes on demand and was perplexed by a lack of any plot.  I might just not be getting this postmodern media, but it did not thrill me.

I am also not some 20-something year old geezer whining about the good ol' days.  "King of the Hill" is a highly enjoyable programme--for the most part I think the haters are the same people who failed to realize that "Beavis and Butt-head" was actually mocking them and their MTV--but it does not fit with the rest of [adult swim].  It is character driven.  It has stories with context and consequence.  It is not just awful, oh-so-obvious cultural references (I hate "Robot Chicken" because it is so simple in its "critique" of popular culture).

I will take "King of the Hill" though on [adult swim].  It gives me something to watch.

By the bye, Hank Hill is a fictional character.  He is not keeping anyone in office.

It's one of my favorite shows on AS , I love nearly all the shows here, but i'd take KoTH over asinine humor anyday.

I find sight gags and random sketches entertaining, but it's good to have something other than cheap laughs. It seems to people who find KoTH dull don't care enough to find the comedy.

I think 20 seasons speaks for itself.  The Simpsons has done a lot right; it's lasted because it's a better and more innovative show.

UGh I've hated the last nine or ten seasons of the simpsons.  Just not funny at all to me.  I've always thought the "classic" simpsons seasons were the best animated comedy shows ever.  Now I think koth is better.

I agree with Jeff_himself about the old adult swim.I still watch and laugh but it did sift from off colored humor too plot-less Morbid humor.It is all funny but I would love a mix of old ATHF and Spaceghost with the blood and guts random stuff.

i think KOTH is pretty funny to be on [as]. especially since i am from the south and i have been around enough people to be able to (and i admit this with great sadness) compare the characters to real life. still, it definitely has a lot better stuff going for it than squidbillies or other shows since it has a PLOT. i feel like squidbillies can only use guns and booze as an excuse for comedy for maybe 5 episodes before they need to come up with something else. congrats to [as] for picking it up

KotH is to Squidbillies as Simpsons is to Family Guy. Both Squidbillies and Family Guy are fun for a while, but really, I just get sick of them.

KotH is near the pinnacle of animated perfection. I don't quite know how to describe it. Everything about it should be boring, but it's one of the most hilarious and, occasionally, insightful things I've ever seen. KotH and Venture Bros. are the only reasons I watch on weekdays, as they're the only regularly scheduled shows that aren't just "hay luk, poop! pop icon! poop on a pop culture icon!"

KotH is far from entertainment for rednecks. It's entertainment at the expense of people whose necks have a light tan, at most. It's satire. No, not like Christina Aguelera buying a haunted fedora as a result of Meg standing in the same room as her, just to have Don Knotz's voice follow her wherever she goes, but like how a believable situation and believable characters can go horribly wrong, in a believable way.

Lately I'm starting to like American Dad. It's like FG without all the Bad.
