Look Around You is Newest Addition to Adult Swim’s Comedy Line-Up
British Parody Series Airs Sunday Nights Beginning Jan. 18
Adult Swim has picked up 14 episodes of the British comedy hit Look Around You, set to air Sunday nights at 1 a.m. (ET, PT) beginning Jan. 18. Created, written and produced by Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz, Look Around You is a nostalgic comedy series offering parodies of educational programs of the ’70s and early ’80 s. And while each episode offers a unique, scientific dissection of the surrounding world, it teaches viewers absolutely nothing. Popper and Serafinowicz star in the show and wrote and performed the music for the series.
Look Around You includes guest appearances by Little Britain’s Matt Lucas and David Walliams, as well as Shaun of the Dead’s Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. Since it first aired on BBC America in 2004, Look Around You has developed a strong cult following. The series received the prestigious Rose D’Or Award for Best Comedy in 2006. It was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Comedy and the British Comedy Award for Best New TV Comedy in 2003. Two seasons of Look Around You were created for air on BBC2.
Peter Serafinowicz is a comedy writer and award-winning actor (Shaun of The Dead, Spaced). He is also known for his voiceover work (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace). Robert Popper is a writer, BAFTA-winning producer and bestselling author. His book The Timewaster Letters, written by his alter ego Robin Cooper, made its U.S. debut in early 2008 and has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. Popper and Serafinowicz recently teamed up again to launch their comedy religion called Tarvuism (www.tarvu.com).
