Bob's Burgers

[ Edited ]

I just found out something that was announced August 6th, but doesn't seem to have been discussed around these parts-- but it's Lucy related, because, well, Louren Bouchard.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118006969.html?categoryid=14&cs
=1

On the animated front, Reilly said he was high on the pilot presentation "Bob's Burgers," from Loren Bouchard ("Dr. Katz" ) and Jim Dauterive ("King of the Hill" ), who created and will also exec produce and showrun.

20th Century Fox TV is behind the project, which has not been officially ordered yet, although a pickup appears to be imminent. Net has recently ordered more scripts of the half-hour, which could be the next Sunday night franchise for the net.

yaaaaaaaaaay

Discuss (or move if this should be elsewhere, and I apologize if so)?

Yay! I was hoping Loren wouldn't be too discouraged to make a new show. :smileyhappy:
The name of the show kinda turns me off, as does the fact that I'm picturing this "Dauterive" fellow as Bill, but if Loren's involved, I know it's gonna be good.

I'm worried about it being on Fox, considering their penchant for cancelling shows.

But then again, animated fare does tend to survive there.

just read about this, but Fox is lumping all the animated shows together on Sun(2011)..
im sure its gonna stand out, if not trump the 3 MacFarlane and elderly Simpsons, ..but it might be overkill.
cant believe they wouldnt ration the animation around - unless theyre trying to swiftboat the [as] block.

Hey everyone! I found another preview of Bob's Burgers!

I missed the first one, so this might be the same as the first one. If it is then well, here it is for the people who didn't catch it already.

I like it so far. Of course it isn't as twisted as Lucy was, but that was to be expected. I don't expect it to be as dry as Lucy or Home Movies, but I think this show could really pull a nice middle ground if done right. They have a great cast, and with some great writing it can be done. And think about it this way, if this show does attract a good middle ground, more people will discover the wonderful shows we already love.

Loren has never let me down. Despite my fears of it just being another Fox animated family sitcom, I have faith that this one will really stand out and deliver.

cool.

I just watched that preview....Not thrilled with it. I want to reserve judgment until I can watch the whole thing

but what was up with the extinguisher gag? just reeks a little too much of "another FamGuy wannabe".

It could be good though, I'll definitely look out for it and make sure to catch the premiere.

Thats what makes me worried. But at the same time, Fox might just be upselling the easier-to-digest stuff. The show has the talent, both on and off of the microphone, to be amazing. Then again, it depends on how much creative control Fox is giving the show.

Ofcourse, FOX has a standard set in place thanks to FG.

Atleast it's someone new...Not another MacFarlane show.

I watched that preview clip too - the music is weird and that Fox voice over guy was SO obnoxious.  He makes the show seem super annoying.

That said...

I got to watch the 7 minute preview at Comic-Con last week - it had the LDOTD-esque Loren Bouchard music (wonky ukulele) AND I was laughing nonstop (and so was the rest of the audience.) The extinguisher gag was the least funny bit of the whole clip, so hopefully that gives you something to look forward to. From what I could tell, it seems pretty much everyone else that was there felt the same way (http://www.cliqueclack.com/tv/2010/07/27/comic-con-bobs-burgers-f
ox-serves-up-a-healthy-new-offering...
)  Loren was awesome and he's totally keeping true to his style of work - letting the actors improvise as much as they need to be funny instead of keeping everything to a totally overworked script.  My only fear is that it goes the way of Arrested Development on Fox, so hopefully it holds out.  It will be nice to have an animated show on network TV that relies on total comedy instead of pop-culture references to be entertaining.

(ps. I miss the LDOTD Unofficial Fan Site.  Anyone know when I can join the Bob's Burger's Unofficial Fan Site?)

Well, it looks like Bob's Burgers is officially on Fox's schedule. Look for it on Sunday, January 9, at 8:30 p.m., sandwiched between The Simpsons and Family Guy. Pretty auspicious placement, wouldn't you say?

My guess as far as the time slot goes, is that if the show is very Loren-esque they're worried about it getting poor ratings as its not Family Guy etc.. so they sandwiched it in there to get extra figures from people too lazy to change the channel :smileytongue:

I'll be looking forward to it.

Just a side note....

I'm watching Kristen Schaal, one of the voices in Bob's Burgers, on The Daily Show right now. She discusses such burning topics as the tastefulness of pornography.

The show's getting a pretty hard push, at least as far as the ads over at The A.V. Club are concerned. Not sure how many commercials Fox is running, but I hope it's enough to get people to tune in and give it a fair shake.

They've aired commercials during Fox's NFL broadcasts. AS gave Loren and his show a plug during a bump, as well.

Well, that was very nice of them. Here's how I would have worded it:

"Watch Bob's Burgers on Fox at 8:30, then turn to Adult Swim for a double-dose of The Venture Bros. at 9:00. Screw Seth McFarlane."

Bob's Burgers is on this Sunday at 8:30pm, let's hope it gets good ratings. It seems to be getting good reviews from what I've seen (better ratings then FOX's last non-MacFarlane/Groening animation effort, Sit Down Shut Up). FOX seem to have more faith in this one, too.

Uh..........wa......uh......you......you think of something.
