Well, I'd imagine that yes, they are trying to make it better. They are trying to convince the network that their show is worth keeping around.
But the production time has always been slow. If you look at the animation, you can kind of see why.
Here's an outline, quoted from Loren:
Majikthise: How long does it take to animate a single 11-minute episode?
LB: takes a long time, or really really short... depending on how you look at it.
writing takes about 3 weeks
recording actors: one day
audio editing takes about 3-4 weeks
storyboarding: 2-3 wks.
then it goes to fluid - layout/background/prop modeling takes about 2 weeks
animation another 3 weeks or so. this is very rough - forgive me, fluid.
then another 2-4 weeks to go from rough to final animation and post.
so what's that? 4 and a half months from start to finish?
course we work on multiple episodes at once, so it feels much much faster when you're in the fat part of the schedule.
it feels like a sprint.
