Lucy, Daughter of the Devil

Loren Bouchard has announced that a Lucy: DOTD DVD is in the works. Evidently Lucy was the #1 show on the Make-Your-Own-DVD app in the Shop, so I guess that helped a lot. Way to go, guys!

UPDATE: Look for a DVD release around Halloween with a bunch of extras.

Congrats to Lucy. This makes it the 1st [AS] show to only last one season, but get a DVD release.

This could mean 2 of the following things:

1) Stroker & Hoop and The Drinky Crow Show will be next.

2) The DVD sales will be high enough to help Lucy get renewed for more episodes.

I was planning on buying Lucy on the build your own DVD thing, but I think I'll wait until the boxset comes out.

I miss this show so much. I watched it with a few of my friends when it came out and none of them seemed to be very into it. I always thought it was great, it's just so dissapointing it had to end like that.

i always thought they could give Lucy an official DVD release since Superjail got one (and there were only ten eps + pilot) hopefully there will be plenty of features on this disc. and if it's really selling strong in the Custom DVD app, then there are chances of the show being revived

Adult Swim declined to pick Lucy back up because it wasn't the right fit....

Lucy was the single most popular show for the roll your own DVD....

Now, maybe it's just me... But i feel that whatever retarded beancounters are up stairs telling the 

PeeTeeBees not to pick up the show for a second season should all be drug out in the street and fired.

But who knows... AS never ran the mushroom samba from BeBop... So maybe they are just cowards.

It;s just fine to be lewd. Or stupid. But stay away from the drugs and the **ergo**?

No, it's not just you. Someone made this decision, citing this or that. The viewers voiced up through purchase of an unestablished product that this isn't ready for that level of rejection but, hey, what do viewers know? Family Guy? Venture Brothers, anyone?

So when's this **alf** finally comin' out???!! Sorry, I'm usually a pretty patient guy but for some reason I'm gettin' a little restless with this. Maybe its cuz its one of the best shows ever made and I'm STILL pissed off about it getting cancelled...yeah thats probably it. I even have my OWN DVD and its STILL buggin' the hell out of me. RAWR!! Sorry, sometimes my female side comes out in an angry way.

But oh well...the longer it takes, the better it'll probably be. Hopefully. Ahh yes...perfectionism. (?)

... have to say, the first viewing I wasn't impressed; but then, a year after the show was canceled, I saw an episode and realized that I missed something awesome and it was too late, mostly, to fix that

I'm really glad there's going to be a DVD. There's plenty of canceled shows that don't have any DVDs--you'd have to Make Your Own at the Adult Swim Shop. I think we're especially lucky since the show was rather short-lived.

But the DVD is a testament to the fans who have continued to support the show and picked Lucy to be part of their Make Your Own collection. Also I think Loren Bouchard deserves a tip of the hat for going to bat for Lucy fans and ensuring a quality product in the end--especially since Loren's so busy with Bob's Burgers these days.

Lucy is just one of the shows that stays in peoples minds. Although some of the humor may have went over peoples heads, it was a very unique show both in writing, style, and animation. I know people who only saw the show once, but when I brought up that the show was getting a DVD, they actually remembered what it was. Not many shows have sticking power like that. Not to mention, it got decent ratings, was critically praised, and was going to get a second season. I hate to say it, but Adult Swim made a really bad decision. They should have gave Loren some more space so he never would have quit. I see this DVD as an acknowledgement that Adult Swim made a mistake.

Hopefully we will see some commentary. Luckily, one of the nice things about doing Bob's Burgers is being next to a lot of familiar faces from Lucy, The Daughter of the Devil. I wouldn't be surprised if we got commentary with Loren, Jon, Eugene, and maybe Sam Seder. Of course, hopefully we will see Melissa, Jon Glaser, and Todd Barry too.
