If you google Frankenhole there is a CD by a band no one has ever heard of called Bile with the name Frankenhole, so it may have been due to legal issues.

But probably because it just sounds better.

I read somewhere the show was basically a tribute to Mary Shelly. It's not a big deal I don't see a reason to fuss about this.

It is not based off a book.

Bile had a CD called "Frankenhole".

Hence why the series is "Marry Shelley's Frankenhole". It also lets people know that they are using characters from Frankenstein.
