What inspired Dino Stamanopolous ("Moral Orel", "Community") to create "Mary Shelley's Frankenhole" was a 1966 stop-motion movie made by the Rankin-Bass studio titled "Mad Monster Party" (so far, the only theatrically realeased project the studio did)    Boris Karloff did one of the voices.
