Okay, I actually got to go to NYCC on Friday thanks to the fine folks at The Rusty Gear to be a flyer girl to hand out promo postcards for their con next year. Mostly because it was also the day both Jon Schnepp and Doc Hammer & Jackson Publick were there!
So I got to see Jon at the Dark Horse booth. Introduced myself, gave him the card for the con and my card (Dethklok Minute over on LJ) and we chated for a bit. He knows about the con and is interested in going. (Poke me and I'll point you in the direction of info for it. It'll be in Mass. end of June 2012.) He is working on the 4th season at the moment.
Also chatted with Jeremy Barlow and Nate Piekos who also worked on the Dethklok comic book. They don't know if there will be any more, but the originals sold well, so there is hope. I said that mini-series of books, rather than a regular monthly series, would be the best way to go.
Pic of Jon, Jeremy, & Nate Sorry, other than Jon in the middle, not sure which is which.
Also, got my hardcopy collection of the Dethklok comics signed by them. And Jon drew me Murderface!
Murderface!Murderface!Murderface!
And I actually got into the Venture Brothers talk! For the first time! My past tries in past NYCCs it was way too packed! Still packed but the con is taking over more of the Javits Center, so bigger room. They were as funny as hell, but said nothing on the next season beyond they got 4 scripts written.
Aside from that, wandered the dealer's room- DAMN that thing is huge! The only Dethklok related thing- besides the comics at the Dark Horse booth- was a Gear brand logo decal at a booth with a ton of fannish decals. Of course, I am nearsighted & currently without glasses, so I may have missed some stuff. But that is also good because I have no money for anything anyway.
What I did see was a couple of booths of steampunk costume stuff was killer! I've wanted to put together a Steampunk! Gear outfit so bad, if only because gears are so much of steampunk. I saw some pocketwatches with gears and some black leather top hats that would have worked soooo well!
Tho' it being Friday, there weren't that many costumes. Some, a few Henchmen with a Monarch and a Dr. Mrs, the Monarch Girlfriend. Saturday was probably the big day for costumes.
