Jon Schnepp @ NYCC 2011

Okay, I actually got to go to NYCC on Friday thanks to the fine folks at The Rusty Gear to be a flyer girl to hand out promo postcards for their con next year.  Mostly because it was also the day both Jon Schnepp and Doc Hammer & Jackson Publick were there!

So I got to see Jon at the Dark Horse booth.  Introduced myself, gave him the card for the con and my card (Dethklok Minute over on LJ) and we chated for a bit.  He knows about the con and is interested in going.  (Poke me and I'll point you in the direction of info for it.  It'll be in Mass. end of June 2012.)  He is working on the 4th season at the moment.

Also chatted with Jeremy Barlow and Nate Piekos who also worked on the Dethklok comic book.  They don't know if there will be any more, but the originals sold well, so there is hope.  I said that mini-series of books, rather than a regular monthly series, would be the best way to go.

Pic of Jon, Jeremy, & Nate  Sorry, other than Jon in the middle, not sure which is which.

Also, got my hardcopy collection of the Dethklok comics signed by them.  And Jon drew me Murderface!

Murderface!Murderface!Murderface!

And I actually got into the Venture Brothers talk!  For the first time!  My past tries in past NYCCs it was way too packed! Still packed but the con is taking over more of the Javits Center, so bigger room.  They were as funny as hell, but said nothing on the next season beyond they got 4 scripts written.

Aside from that, wandered the dealer's room- DAMN that thing is huge!  The only Dethklok related thing- besides the comics at the Dark Horse booth- was a Gear brand logo decal at a booth with a ton of fannish decals.  Of course, I am nearsighted & currently without glasses, so I may have missed some stuff.  But that is also good because I have no money for anything anyway.

What I did see was a couple of booths of steampunk costume stuff was killer!  I've wanted to put together a Steampunk! Gear outfit so bad, if only because gears are so much of steampunk.  I saw some pocketwatches with gears and some black leather top hats that would have worked soooo well!

Tho' it being Friday, there weren't that many costumes.  Some, a few Henchmen with a Monarch and a Dr. Mrs, the Monarch Girlfriend.  Saturday was probably the big day for costumes.

I believe I walked by you in there. I wasn't sure, but you may have been the mature woman in the Dethklok shirt on Friday.

I met Schnepp last year, didn't know he was there this time. Might have to get my other two Dethklok comics signed by him.

If Jon drew everyone's favorite bread 'n butter instead of Murderface, Holkie would be floating like the dog (he points to his mouth and someone like Quick Draw Mc Graw would feed him a treat and then he'll float up in the air)  in the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons!!!

I don't think Quick Draw ever fed Scooby Doo. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Hon, if Jon had drawn Charles, they would have had to call the EMTs to take me out on a stretcher!   I'd be leaving finger prints in 3D on that book!

I gave Jon one of my MOO cards (UK buisness cards about half the size of normal business cards) I had made.  I've got two designs on them.  Both fan art of our CFO.  One was by Bibly and the other by Thundercrap & sort of part of the Dethswords group.

Aw, but image showing up at the New York Comic-Con, arriving at Adult Swim's booth...and seeing a 3D image of our beloved bread 'n butter...you'd be singing the 'Mr. Blueberry Pie' song!

And for all the trivia buffs, I believe the dog who floats up in the air every time he begs for a snack name's is 'SNUFFLES': I recollect watching that particular episode years ago while waiting for 'Josie and the Pussycats' to air (or the 'Banana Splits').

Man, that sounds like an amazing time. Jon seems like a real sweetheart. Too bad he didn't draw Charles, though since Murderface is my favorite, it's kind of nice to think that he was chosen as the one to be drawn. Though, I suppose season 3 had a lot of Murderface.

Anyway, this is herbailiwick, and I loved hearing about your time at NYCC. Thanks again for passing out flyers, and for talking to Jon! I'm really glad you enjoyed yourself!

Nearsighted without glasses = memories of Junior High. Finding my locker was an ordeal, but my glasses embarrassed me too badly to wear them all the time.

I hope to see someone dressed as The Monarch at The Rusty Gear. I love his outfit. Did the person in The Monarch costume have awesome eyebrows?

I've worn glasses since third grade and stopped wearing them in 1982 in favor of contacts...every single pair of glasses/sunglasses I own gets broken...I just had to buy another pair of sunglasses last week at Wal-Mart!

As I remember, yep.  Hey, he ain't the Monarch unless he got the brows!

@Klokateer513- right now, it's mostly because I ain't got no money to get new glasses.  It's been.....7-8 years I think since my last check-up.  I usually had my eyes checked every 2-3 years because they didn't change much.  Back in 2005 I moved to NYC and so away from my old eye doctors.  I should have gone sometime in 2006/07 but I just didn't.  Then my old glasses started breaking.  Lost the left ear piece and then the right.

I wish I could still wear contacts. I wore mine to bed too many times in high school and my eyes don't like them anymore, at least that's what the case was last time I tried.

It might be easier to wear costumes (especially one in particular I'm thinking of) for the con if I could wear contacts. I guess I could always buy a pair and see.

My eye doctor just prescribed me contacts that I can sleep in, but I'm not gonna take the risk of actually doing that...I take my contacts out before I go to bed.

Holkie...you DON'T duct tape your glasses, do you?

CFO: (Bristles) The memories...

(We see a young CFO being approached by bullies at an elementary school. Young CFO is wearing Coke bottle-thick eyeglasses, his hair is slicked back with waaaaay too much Bylcream, and he is wearing a short-sleeved white Oxford shirt

that has 'ring around the collar' and khaki slacks that shows ironing folds from being ironed waaaay too much. On his feet are tube socks that has zero elastic and brown Oxford shoes.)

BULLY: (Grabs Young CFO by his shirt's collar and shows him his fist; menacingly) GIMMEE YER MUNNEY, POINDEXTER..

NOW!!!

(Young CFO responds by kicking the bully 's 'family jewels'...and I DON'T mean Gene $immons' reality show)

YOUNG CFO: (Karate flips the bully and retorts) The name is CHARLES FOSTER OFFDENSEN...NOT 'POINDEXTER!' (Takes out his 'My First Fencing Sword' from his duct-taped leather attache case and jabs the bully right in his posterior...he also slashes his initials...CFO... on the bully's backside a la 'Zorro')

(Back to the reality that is Mordhaus)

NATHAN: (Roars to CFO) 'ZORRO?" How OLD the (Expletive censored by guitar riff) ARE YOU???

PICKLES: Dood, like you write in HIEROGLYPICS?

CFO: (Slyly smiles) Sanscript.

DK: (Actually believing CFO's statement; aghast) WHOA!

LoL!  Hey, remembering Zorro doesn't mean I'm, er he's that old!

Naw, duct tape would not have helped.

Brilliant and adorable. Very CFO.

Also, yes, even with the ones they have nowadays that you can leave in, I'd still be afraid to. I think I learned my lesson.

I think the last time I wore contacts was prom, so that must have been like over 4 years ago. I honestly can't remember how I reacted, so I guess they're at least worth a shot.

Not that my glasses aren't sexy and amazing stylish.

CFO: Glasses, in my opinion, are indeed "sexy and, uh....stylish." Any member of the Red Tie Coven would concur.

HOLKIE: (Shows up wearing Clark Kent-like black horned-rimmed glasses) I CONCUR!!!!

K 5-13: (also shows up wearing her broken and beat-up wired-framed glasses she's had since 1980) I ALSO CONCUR!

MURDERFACE: (Sees Holkie and K 5-13 and schemes) If I got a pair of glasses, I can score with a LOT of chicks just like Skwisgaar and Chuckles!

Later...much, much later:

The Yardwolves, known to me as Fenrir (the male wolf) and Lupa (the female wolf) are outside the compound of Mordhaus. Spread out newspapers are on the ground as if they are housebreaking papers.

Fenrir, who is wearing Dr. Twinkletits' horn-rimmed glasses, appears to be reading the financial/business section of the newspaper. Lupa seems to be staring at the department store flyers.

Murderface sneaks up behind Fenrir and tries to **beast** the spetacles of the lupine's snout....WITHOUT MUCH SUCCESS.

Be back...computer time is up.

I'm back!

Fenrir is about to turn Murderface into Purina Yardwolf Chow and is about to rip him into shreads...except that the taste of Murderface is as putrid and as rancid as...HIS FEET!

MURDERFACE: (Yells) EVERYBODY'S A (Expletive censored by guitar riff) CRITIC!

(Lupa approaches Murderface from behins, takes a whiff...and is overcome with the strench that is William Murderface. Both yardwolves run away from the belligerent bassist and whimper/yelp like frightened puppies. Murderface is left with his foul-smelling frangrance...and a laundry list of expletives.)

FINIS...SOMEONE OPEN A CYBER-WINDOW...COUGh-COUGH!
