Okay, by now you have started to notice the fancy new tags and ranks that inhumanrampager and I (and others) have started sporting.  It means we won't rank up anymore and that, after a year and a half, are officially HELPeRs here on the boards.  And that the Wiki is finally going to really get off the ground.

What Adult Swim wants is to have the Wikis right on the show boards.  Meaning right here.  And they want them to be a collaboration between you and us.  So that means you will get to have imput in what is written up there.  But there are some rules, mostly to keep out spoilers.  Yeah, even for the 1st and 2nd season stuff.

1) The actually wiki threads will be Read Only.  We will discuss what should go there here and then inhuman or I will add it.

2) Only information from past seasons will go in the threads.  In Metalocalypse, as I write this, that means seasons 1 & 2.  Season 3 is still in process.  This is partly to keep out spoilers and partly because we don't know what is really important enough to add yet.  

3) Current seasons, ie season 3 now, will be open for discuss about 2 or 3 months after the season is done in full.  This is mostly for the character guides.  

4) Episode guides will probably go up a bit faster than the character guides.  Meaning right now I'd do a little write up on everything through Dethmas.  Mostly because, even for the older episodes, I don't want to put a lot in each post.  Just a little more than the two lines given in the TV listings, but less than a full, detailed write, trivia for the episode, guest voices, etc.  Because people are still discovering the show and we want to tease them, not spoil them, into watching the show.  I also want to put in links in each episode post to the episode discussion threads.

5) We will also have a "Other Media" or whatever we wind up calling it thread.  This will cover the CDs, music videos, the official and fan MySpace pages as well as some fan sites.

AS is also considering letting us put in screen caps for the characters and the episodes.  Not a lot, just a no spoiler cap from the show/episode.  And seeing as I don't have the ablity to screen cap things, I will be putting out the call for help from you guys.  I would like for several people to be involved, not just one or two.  And each person will get credit for the cap. 

Now, I don't know what this means for the show pages above.  But we get to write the official Metalocalypse wiki!  So, put on your thinking caps, folks.   I think I'd like to start with the character thread first. 

So, how about what should we put for each character?  Start with Nathan first.  Basic write of info from seasons 1 & 2, trivia about him, about Brendon, etc.

Compile, yes.  Actually put it in the wiki, not yet.  At least we will have it here so we won't forget.  Just mark all Season 3 stuff with that at the start of the post so it stands out for later retrieval.

Okay, so episode guides go up two weeks after the episode airs.

Character info will still wait until the end of the season, because we need to see the full season to know what is important.  Something we think is important early may not be as vital as something we missed that winds up being important by the last episode.

But we post all things we noticed and then we will collect the lot at the end of the season into a list and we'll go over what should go into the wiki and what is bs.

Okay, folks, right now I need general show trivia.

Now, this is not episode trivia.  Like Dimmu Burger is referencings Dimmu Borgir.  That little bit will go into "Go Forth & Die"s entry. 

Not "Nathan Explosion is based on George Corpsegrinder Fisher".  That will go in Nathan's thread.

Go see what I have written so far and help add to it.  This is general trivia for the show.

...but maybe this goes better under a music thread?  then again, the music is such an integral element of the show--perhaps it applies here as well?

Yep, we're, inhuman and I, figured there will be three threads- the show wiki, the episode thread, and other media thread.

And other media would be the CDs, the extras on the DVDs, fan websites, etc. 

I think we're going to be cautious on the fan fic and fan art.  As much as there is some wonderful stuff out there, there is a lot that is, well, adult.

Never complied a wiki before, but here's some things about Nathan.

• Nathan is the lead singer and song writer of the band Dethklok.  He is a tall, board shouldered, husky man with long black hair and green eyes.  He speaks in a deep gruff voice that sounds much like his singing voice.  (Duh, I know, but it might be nice to start out with a description of him.)

• According to this interview, Brendon says he gets Nathan's vocals from a combination of "chocolate milk and Cooler Ranch Doritos."

• Nathan comes from Florida, representing the Florida death metal scene.  Brendon mentions this here.

• Nathan's parents are Rose and Oscar Explosion.  Oscar is apparently a retired member of the armed forces.  They live in Victory Gardens, the premiere armed forces retirement community in Florida.  (Dethfam)

• Nathan didn't speak until he was 5 years old.  He is a high school drop out.  He was a failing student in high school and only excelled at frog dissection and football.  He later attempted to get his G.E.D. but failed because he didn't answer any of the questions. (Go Forth and Die)  He was once elected class president in what looks like elementary school, though it is not clear what grade this happened. (Dethgov)

• In Florida there was an attempt made to make a state holiday for Nathan Explosion, but the governor of Florida announced he would veto any proposal, and was subsequently mauled and beaten to death by an angry mob of those in attendance of the speech, his body hung upside down and his head cut off with the word "dildo" written on his forehead.  Nathan was then elected governor of Florida in a landslide write in victory.  While governor, anarchy and economic ruin befell the state and it became a desolate wasteland filled with crime.  Nathan finished out his term with a speech stating that he believed he left Florida in a better place than he found it. • Nathan enjoys shining laser pointers in his band mate's eyes and pretending he's an eye doctor (Fat Kid at the Dethharmonic) and he also likes buying watches just to simply smash them (Murdering Outside the Box).  (Not sure if that's useful trivia, but there you go.)

Hope that helps so far.  You can organize that or take out whatever in any way you see best.  I'll try thinking of and looking for more things.

Okay, not bad.  Some of that would go into an episode thread, tho'.

Like the stuff from Dethgov. 

And anything from an interview would be trivia. 

One of the major pieces of trivia is going to be that Nathan is the only band member that Brendon and Tommy have admited to being based on a real musician.  Brendon has said in an interview that Nathan is based largely on George Corpsegrinder Fisher. 

Later today, I'll do a rough write-up and put it up.  We can then go over it and see what needs to be added or changed. 

Plus go over the general show info already up.

Blergh.  I hate this cold.  A part of me wants to stay up writing this up.  A larger part knows I'll just barely make it through the ep tonight.

I'll check them out, hon.  And if there is anything we miss, I'll take it from there and credit properly.  But I don't want to copy pasta.  I've started what I have from memory.  Haven't even put in the DVDs yet.  But I'd figure I'd write the base from memory, and then have everybody say "Okay, you missed this, should add that."

The hardest part is going to be keeping the stuff from this past episode off of Skwisgaar's thread until the season is over.  I was going to reference the interview about Skwisgaar geing chased by wolves into a cave and finding the guitar in the trivia part of his post, but now I don't know.
