Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket

i remember liking it when it was on TV and the Alex is my favorite UC Gundam...as it is, I pretty much assigned it to the position of my second favorite UC series because i've only seen a few of them and 08th Team is my favorite...but now that i'm watching it again, I notice...this art is really quite pretty. and the mechanics of it remind me of how realistic 08th Team was...i think i want to buy this one now...

The redisgned Zaku II's were also quite pretty in war in the pocket, my favourite had to be the Kampher and Hygoggs though, even though they only got about 1 episode each.

Wow that was so long ago I barely remember it. Stardust Memory was my favorite from that era though. I thought Nina Purpleton was *so hot*! :smileyvery-happy: Still do. O__O She was a real woman. Who was the masked bad guy in that one, wasn't it Char? I would love Sci-Fi or even AS is they showed those classic Gundam series again. These young terks today don't know where they came from!!

It was an excellent series.  The UC timeline really lent itself well to the shorter series format.

There was no masked antagonist as such; but the main bad guy was Anavel Gato.

Char was only in 0079 and Char's counterattack. There are small references to him in other series and OVAs, and then of course there is his infamous alter ego in Zeta.

0079? Is that the same thing as MS Gundam?

Yeah, same series. Since so many of them are Mobile Suit Gundam ________ i find it easier to refer it as 0079 or just the 'original' gundam. :smileyvery-happy:

I'm impressed with this Gundam series..It has a reminiscent aura of Gundam Wing..but I think that's one of the things I like about it.The Gundam model in this serie are impressive too.

It's good since there is a lot of groundfighting in it, something you usually don't see in Gundam so there will be bloodbaths instead of stained cockpits. (Although there is that one cockpit. . .)

how far did you get? i showed it to some friends and didn't get a terrific reaction. after the battle in the first episode, the first half of the series is mostly character development, espionage suspense and plot-based dialogue. ( I love it, but i can grudgingly accept that some people might be turned off by it) But then, episode 4 explodes with action. episode five deals with the aftermath of the clash and episode six introduces one last climactic battle of its own. i only got to show the first three eps to my friends, unfortunately.

god, i was barely out of college when i made this thread..what on earth is it doing here?

One of the best Gundam series, for sure. My friend let me borrow the DVDs a while back and I enjoyed it immensely. As far as realism goes in all of Gundam, this one stands out.
