A Final Q&A Possible?

Not sure if this happens, I know that some convention Dino went to was suppose to have a panel open for questions. Not sure when that is/if it's been recorded--ect.. but do you think it's too far of a shot to have one final one-- just to wrap up the series? I'm guessing it's a no, but one can hope.

What's that then Albert Vaginastein ?

I hope this isn't Orel-exclusive, because i want your best guesstimate on when FrankensTime will be on air(or would be if it's picked up)

Also, if you had the five seasons you wanted, would it have ended at the same spot? Or would we see more of the aftermath of Clay telling Stopframe he loved him i.e. the divorce, the explaination to Orel, the towns reaction?

Ooooh, along Explosivo's vein, would he even have told Stopframe this early in the show that he loved him? I seriously wasn't expecting it at all when it happened. If anything, I was expecting it to happen the other way around.

Also, what was supposed to happen in the six other episodes that you haven't talked about? I was able to read "Raped" but I'm curious about the content of the other six.

Can't really tell when FrankensTime will air. Hopefully by next Halloween.

And as for the Five seasons of Orel thing, I never knew if I'd even want to do more seasons until the current one was written, produced and aired. I had no idea what Season 3 was until Nature was up and running.

We were definitely planning to have an open-ended-yet-satisfying-series-finale if we made all 20 this year, just in case we decided not to do a fourth season. Frankly, I think I was ready to move on to something else...just not so suddenly.

And the end would have still been uplifting. You don't put a character like Orel through that much hell and then SHIdT on him for it in the end.

I don't think Clay would ever have a happy ending, though. He's too self-loathing.

As for the current ending, I'm pretty happy with it. I feel the Censordoll thing was resolved. Maybe I would have thrown in a moment or two for clarification, but for me it ended where it ended. She got what she wanted...the Mayor in the palm of her hands.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the series. I think it had an interesting evolution in an incredibly short period of time. I know it could have gone on for several more seasons. Humans are very rich in story, and these characters were becoming more and more human. But it's over and I have no regrets.

Yeah, we wrote Honor before we knew it was the series finale. We may have gotten a little more info on Clay's life post-gut-spilling, but I don't think it's necessary. What definitely would have happened would be more of a lead up, a few episodes showing Clay and Orel's degenerated relationship in more detail.

Having it happen the other way around? You mean Stopframe declaring his love for Clay. I feel the audience experienced that in "Satan." Maybe it wasn't a literal declaration, but we all knew what Stopframe was thinking.

Here's something I posted on another site about the remaining episodes:

Well, I don't have any other scripts I want to post, just because they're all in pretty rough states, but here's some quick descriptions.

1. Easter: Orel's Grampa (Clay's father) comes to Moralton to tie up loose ends before he dies. He ends up sharing Orel's bed as his death bed for the last ten episodes, giving Orel good advice. (happens during the Sacrifice episode).

2. Nurture: Shapey and Block nurture each other and grow emotionally.

3. Narcissism: After cutting it off with Florence, Putty becomes disillusioned with all women. This makes him incredibly attractive to all the females in Moralton and he becomes the most available bachelor in town, fukcing tons of poossy. This makes him even more bored with every lady out there. He starts picturing Florence as he's fukking everyone. When he finally runs into Florence, she is dating someone else and is really really thin. Putty's disappointed in her appearance. He's been picturing fat Florence, and even though she's prettier on a shallow level, longs for her previous look. She explains that she got so depressed when he stopped seeing her that she didn't feel like eating. He happily tells her now that he's back and she can get fat again. She is insulted by his self-centered attitude and tells him to go away. In the end, I think he probably wins her back though by showing he really cares.

4. Untitled: Bloberta and Officer Papermouth accidentally bump into each other late at night, both reaching into the garbage can outside Nurse Bendy's apt. and simultaneously grabbing the "Sonny" Teddy bear. Papermouth chivalrously let's Bloberta keep it, and this starts off an affair between the two of them. It ends up being very good for the both of them. Not sure how Clay reacts. Didn't get very far on this one.

5. Untitled: I wanted to write the continuing saga of Orel and Christina, but never got to it. No solid ideas on this.

6. Raped: You may have read this. I'll probably put it up on my blog again.

7. Death: Orel's Grampa finally dies. Orel doesn't find too much solace from anyone and becomes a Goth kid, getting heavily into the Christian Death Metal band: Multiple Godgasm. Don't want to say much more about this, on the remote chance that there will be a Moral Orel movie, I'd like to use a lot of this story.

well golly! Thanks for the quick response.

btw the episode "Passing" was especially brilliant. The way it ends with him staring into his drink, like he just was visualizing the entire episode in it. I thought, "that was great", and, "how the heck did you think of that?!". Thanks man.

Thanks. Yeah, that was an afterthought. I really wanted to play more of "Love Love Love" and remembered that we had some footage of Clay sitting looking miserable in his study from "Lord's Prayer" and that matched the P.O.V. angle from "Numb." We actually didn't have to reshoot any of that...but it did take some doing in special effects.

Orel goes Goth eh? If this episode did air or if there's going to be a Moral Orel movie, would've Orel dressed like a Goth or would he dress normally?

Hey Dino, I have a question for ya-- since, from what I can tell, the 6 mini-plot descriptions don't seem to focus on this aspect so much, were you planning to have Clay and Orel's strained relationship be more of a subtle thing (as in having scenes in various episodes that show they weren't terribly close anymore) or did you want to have a whole episode that centered around it? I remember you saying in one of the IVCs that there would be things like Clay not being able to look Orel in the eyes anymore and I was sort of curious about how that would play out.

Yeah, it would have been Orel's version of Goth, whatever that is.

I'm sure it would have been more of a subtle thing and not a whole major storyline from an episode.

I always thought Clay had it particularly bad and wanted to see him happy.

This episode destroyed me when I saw Clay's confession to Danielle.

Why the hell is Joe so jacked and what is the relationship between Nurse Bendy and Coach Stopframe?

my biggest question (please answer)

HOW DOES OREL STILL HAVE FAITH IN GOD?

I quit God a long time ago and have been searching for a reason to go back.

This character Orel provides some inspiration and I would like to know what his inspiration is.

...........................................................

On another note Dino!

It really seems like you were hosing [as] at the beginning, and finally getting the DVD this Christmas I watched the ComicCon panel.

I asked for Moral Orel to be cancelled.

You whole attitude was horrible about this show and I only blame and mostly hate YOU for it being cancelled.

fuuuuuudge off Dino!!!

Dammit those ideas are all fantastic.  DAMMIT.  I'm sad I did not get to see Putty and Florence's (possibly) happy ending or Bloberta and Papermouth's (possibly) happy beginning or more of Orel's grandpa and Christina.  Oh well, thank you so much for sharing these ideas.  You'll have a lot of people happy to read the scripts if you do ever feel like fleshing them out some more.  Multiple Godgasm is hilarious and "Bow down" is the funniest song in the series; Mark Rivers is awesome.  Orel as a Christian goth would have been hilarious.

A couple questions:

Since you were planning on bringing Orel's grandpa to the show, was Clay lying when he said his parents were dead or was that a rewrite to accomodate the shortened series?

If you're comfortable answering, why did Jay Johnston leave the series?

Is there anything us fans could do to encourage the production of more dvds?

Barring any chance that more of these shirts will be made, is there any chance we can get the graphics for the "Moral Orel: Cancelled" shirt or the "Where's my pizza?" shirt?

Where'd you come up with the name "Orel?"

Feel free to ignore any questions you don't want to answer.  It's so nice to have the opportunity to talk to a show creator without standing in front of a huge audience with a long line of fellow nerds waiting behind you.

Well, first question: Why is Joe so "jacked?" I think it has a lot to do with the anger of having a dad that wasn't there for him in the way a young, athletic Dad would be. He was very old when Joe was born. It was like being raised by a Grandfather except that he was also was a doctor and worked all the time. Joe had no male figure in his life that he respected and became a brat because of that.

Nurse Bendy and Stopframe's relationship? Well, it's complicated. It's better to explain how Stopframe is Joe's Uncle. I was going to explain this in a future episode: Stopframe had a similar experience to Joe.  He was a half-brother to Dr. Secondopinionson. Their father had Stopframe when he was much older. He ended up taking his very young mother's surname: Stopframe.

Orel still has faith in God and you don't because he's a better person than you.

No, just kidding. I think Orel had enough people in his life helping him out to reaffirm his belief. That's just a guess, though. I really don't know. You'd have to really ask Orel.

Clay was always going to say that about his Dad being dead. I think it as just wishful thinking on his part. He was very bitter and their relationship was dead to him.

Jay left Moral Orel because he really didn't like or understand it and it started to show. His performances suffered greatly because of it. He'll probably play a part in FrankensTime, though.

I would say get as many people to buy more Vol. 1 dvds from Amazon and other sources in order to generate any kind of interest in Vol. 2. I never said that there wouldn't be another DVD. I just said there was no current interest in one. Vol. 1 sold VERY poorly.

Those other t-shirts were made by the crew of Moral Orel. If [as] was interested in selling them, I'm sure I could get them artwork...but remember: there are very few of you Moral Orel fans out there and it probably would be worth it to them.

Orel rhymed with Moral. It was the only name I could think of. Like Dennis the Menace. I didn't want to spell it "Oral" because of the obvious connotations involved. Turns out it didn't really matter. People have filthy minds. Me, included.

Once upon a time, there was a woman picking up firewood. She came upon a poisonous snake frozen in the snow. She took the snake home and nursed it back to health. One day the snake bit her on the cheek. As she lay dying she asked the snake, "Why have you done this to me?" And the Snake answered, "Look Btch, you knew I was a snake."

It's rare that you get to see someone caring this much about their fans. Kudos to you, Dino. I'd like to ask you a question about what made you decide to make the show more emotional. I mean, it was a huge tonal shift when Nature came along. Yeah, there was Be Fruitful and Multiply and Courtship but nothing could have possibly prepared anyone for Nature. What exactly triggered it?

Also, what did you think of Mountain Goats' new album?

You know there a person named Reverend. Orel Roberts so this made me and many others think Orel Puppington is named after Reverend Orel Roberts.

Here is one very important question that stuff confuses the living "H-E- double L sounds" out of me...

If Clay and Blobberta don't even like eachother and were forced to marry... Why did they have Orel?

they pretty much neglect him, Clay beats him when he feels like it and Blobbera acting pretty much acting cold towards him, just what purpose did they have when they conceived Orel? This type of thing makes me and many others think Orel was a accident!

They didn't purposely abandon him. The reason/joke was that Block and Shapey look less alike than other members of each family look like their counterparts. Also, Block and Shapey are both neglected, basturd (avoiding censorship with that spelling; I'm not dumb) children which predestines them to accidental abandonment.

By the way, that  was Scott Adsit's idea. When I saw it in the script, he gingerly suggested carrying this joke on for the whole season. I ungingerly agreed. One of the funniest things about Season 2 and helped make NUMB oddly touching.
