It's rare that you get to see someone caring this much about their fans. Kudos to you, Dino. I'd like to ask you a question about what made you decide to make the show more emotional. I mean, it was a huge tonal shift when Nature came along. Yeah, there was Be Fruitful and Multiply and Courtship but nothing could have possibly prepared anyone for Nature. What exactly triggered it?

Also, what did you think of Mountain Goats' new album?

It's something I always planned on doing. You can't start a show out too emotional in tone on [as]. The premise has to be pretty conceptual. I mean, look at what happened when the Christmas episode was aired first. Everyone hated it. Moral Orel started out in a severe hole. Anyway, I tried to get to the emotional storylines as fast as possible. Maybe too fast.

Not too into their new album yet. Might take a few more listens. The Mountain Goats are hit-or-miss to me. For every song I like there are about ten that don't really excite me in any way. But that's just me. What I like from them I really really like a lot.

If Clay and Blobberta don't even like eachother and were forced to marry... Why did they have Orel?

they pretty much neglect him, Clay beats him when he feels like it and Blobbera acting pretty much acting cold towards him, just what purpose did they have when they conceived Orel? This type of thing makes me and many others think Orel was a accident!

Actually it's Oral Roberts. That's another reason I didn't spell it that way. The famous Orel is  Orel Hershiser, an ex-pitcher or something.

Why does any couple in an abusive relationship have kids? Because they fukked and a baby came out.

Nothing in the future with Tim and Eric. They really don't need my help. I like their stuff a lot.

I relate to all the characters in Moral Orel in certain ways, but I probably relate most to either Rev. Putty or Clay. I'd probably BE Clay if I didn't leave my marriage. Now I have a great relationship with my ex-wife. Divorce is an amazing thing. I mean that. You should all check out Ingmar Bergman's series "Scenes From A Marriage." When it aired on Swedish TV, he very proudly stated that it's broadcast raised the divorce percentage in Sweden a significant amount. If done right, Divorce is a savior to Family.

I noticed that in the episode "Sacrifice", you lightly touched on Dr. Potterswheel's backstory. Were you ever planning on showing what had happened to Dr. Potterswheels wife?

And do you think you would have ever went back to Mr. Armiture and what ever happened to him, cause he sorta just disappeared.

I'm sure if the show went on any more seasons I would have eventually gotten into Potterswheel's backstory in more detail. As it stands, I think we learned enough to be satisfied. I think...

I liked playing Dale Armature and toyed with spinning off a show about him. I figured he left Moralton right after his play flopped and tried to make it big in N.Y.C. Never got around to it though.

What's your new show [FrankenTime or something?] about? Can you tell us all that you can> tell us? Is it live action? Is it 30 minutes or 15 minutes running time? Anything at all? Thanks! :smileyhappy:

It's a 15 minute stop-motion show about Victor Frankenstein and time travelling. That's all for now.

Dino,

I know this was just a show, but it has made an indelible mark on my life.

I started to have this bad depression after watching the 44 nights of Orel.

I am now starting to feel better through reading the posts here, and it makes me feel a lot better knowing that you care about the fans of Moral Orel.

You should know that I tell everyone I know about the show and ask them to get into it.

but as you said the following is small.

I made the comment in a previouse post "I asked for the show to be cancelled"

what I meant was that YOU asked for the show to be cancelled in that ComicCon panel.

I don't understand if the characters names were cleverly thought out or just came from lazyness.

I also don't understand why everyone says "Moral Orel isn't funny, thats why it got cancelled"

when the whole point of Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are to show cartoons and not just funny $h!t .

This is not Comedy Central , its fu(kin ADULT SWIM!!

they really need to balance all the stoner trash that they put on with more meaningful thought provoking shows such as Moral Orel.

Also notcied that you were kinda offended by the thought of doing a Orel movie special after being cancelled, but it looks like you have changed your drunken mind and will maybe do it.?.?

I hope you do.

I pray you so.

One question Dino.

Are you religious and can you explain about your religious upbringing if any and how it affected the Morel Orel series and your life?

I hope it stays dark forever
I hope the worst isn't over
And I hope you blink before I do
Yeah I hope I never get sober

Orel rhymed with Moral. It was the only name I could think of. Like Dennis the Menace. I didn't want to spell it "Oral" because of the obvious connotations involved. Turns out it didn't really matter. People have filthy minds. Me, included.

I seriously never made that connection before. It may just be because I have no imagination though.

Bunch of questions:

Did Clay and Bloberta love their family at all?  Did they ever love them?  Does Clay love Danielle or was he just in pain at the loss of attention?

Did Orel learn to love his parents again?

Why did you choose stop motion animation as the medium for this show?  How involved were you, Scott Adsit, and Chris McKay with the actual animation of the show?  Is there anything you would have done differently if you could do these three seasons over again?

Thank you for such a geat show.

A "new-ish" fan.  Terrible timing, I suppose.

Oh, and looking at the episode summaries for the "lost episodes"...it seems like all the good stuff escaped the cutting-room floor.  I suppose I wouldn't know until I saw it in action, but very few of those summaries actually seem like they'd match up with a majority of the episodes this season.  But that's just one idiot's opinion. :smileyhappy:

Anyway, my questions:

1. Was a happy ending always intended for Orel?  Did you mean to imply that there might not be?  I seriously worried for Orel after drawing comparisons between young Clay and Orel, and worried that Orel would end up like Clay in the end.  Is this too many questions for just one number?

2. Do you plan for your new show to grow a similar "human" element that Orel developed?  Also, any thoughts about a small Orel cameo or reference in an episode or two?

3. I tried checking out some Mountain Goats music, and my opinion is very much the same as yours.  What are some other songs that a person who loves "No More Children" and "Love love love" would enjoy?

4. If you were to undo anything about Moral Orel for the entire series run, what would it be?

I am drowning,
There is no sign of land,
You are coming down with me,
Hand in unlovable hand.

To be honest, my only problem with season 3 was that I don't feel the Censordoll thing was resolved.  It actually makes more sense when I read your sentence there though.  So, it was that she had the mayor in her clay palms?  Was that her reward in itself there, or was it that she could now get the mayor to censor whatever she wanted because she was prostituting herself out to him (in a sense)? I'm a little confused there.

Hey Dino, just want to start out saying that I was always a fan of the show since it was just a social commentary about people using religion as a parenting tool, and then you made nature+season 3 and I fell in love with it. The once "funny show about religion" became the best thing on t.v. from the animation to the writing to the directing it had it all and I just wanted to say I appreciate you putting in the effort to make it  so great. Now that that's out of the way I have a couple questions I would like to bounce off of you.

1. Were you planning on doing another episode on the attention/affection starved Doughy? I thought he was the saddest kid in Moralton.

2. What was going to happen to Joe? Would he still live with his dad or move in with nurse Bendy?

3. Boberta had a freckled face red-headed brother who looked a lot like a kid in season one that was Orel's age,now was this just a coincidence or just laziness and you simply reused the head?

4. In "Sacrifice" did no one take a swing on Clay because he was the mayor or because they knew that's what he wanted and didn't want to stoop to his level or simply that residents of Moralton go about their life avoiding confrontation?

And by "tired" I mean "drunk."

I'll just take it as a "Yes, Orel was a accident and it's no wonder why his parents treat him like "shart"

I do have 3 questions about Clay's drinking..

1. Shouldn't he have liver cancer by now after all these years of drinking?
2. Why isn't he ever arrested for public intoxication? (He even drinks in Church!)

and

3. How come no one EVER held a intervention for Clay's drinking problem?!

hi dino, i just want to say that in an odd way this show has catalysed my maturity.  i've been thinking about things differently since watching(especially season 3) and lots of these episodes came at a perfect time for me.

i'd also like to say that  you could not have picked a better song than "no children" for this show.  it's like it was written for Numb.

and as for a question, how often do you write/record music?

I'm amazed Dino is here, what a gentleman. While I don't have any questions I can think of, I must thank you for making a classic series like Moral Orel, blending dark humor and character development in your own very unique way. I'm positive that Moral Orel will be even more fondly remembered and critically acclaimed as time goes on, the characters are some of the most emotionally complex and strange that I can think of, certainly in terms of anything aired by adult swim. Really looking forward to this upcoming show of yours.

This really has nothing to do with Moral Orel, but I was hoping you could answer it anyways. How did you end up getting cast on The Drinky Crow Show? I'm not completely sold on the show yet, but it definitely has its moments and I think it has a lot of potential. Your performance on there is very funny and I was just wondering how you got involved.

Same thing for me.

It has come and helped create a pivotal  time in my life, full of sickening depression.

Its amazing how some form of art can do this to you, and amazing that I let? it happen.

I really do think Dino and the gang, especially Jay Johnston, looked like they were just riding [as] for all it was worth.

The names of the puppets are slightly creative borderline  making fun of themselves.

Dino's commentary, and his actions (drinking) all say that he was just fuuuuuudge!ng  around and getting paid for it.

Seems Scott Adsit had more maturity  than Dino and cared about it being successfu more than Dino.

Sad.

I think Dino might have had a depression/disillusionment problem with this show from the start do to [as] big mistakes of showing one of the most emotionally jarring  espisodes first, along with not advertising adequitly, unlike what they did for the other pothead shows.

I love you Dino, thanks for creating Moral Orel and letting others help to make it such a beautiful show in every aspect.

I can only pray to God, (or not pray and just wish to the universe?), that [as] will either allow a seasonal movie or two.

or better yet.

Spike, Comedy Central, or even MTV (not first choice) will buy the rights to Orel and have Dino and the gang back to make episodes for their respected stations.

Anyone ever think of trying to buy back the rights from [as] Dino?

again, I love you big guy, you have touched me in a better way than the Catholic priesthood.

2. Nurture: Shapey and Block nurture each other and grow emotionally.

3. Narcissism: After cutting it off with Florence, Putty becomes disillusioned with all women. This makes him incredibly attractive to all the females in Moralton and he becomes the most available bachelor in town, fukcing tons of poossy. This makes him even more bored with every lady out there. He starts picturing Florence as he's fukking everyone. When he finally runs into Florence, she is dating someone else and is really really thin. Putty's disappointed in her appearance. He's been picturing fat Florence, and even though she's prettier on a shallow level, longs for her previous look. She explains that she got so depressed when he stopped seeing her that she didn't feel like eating. He happily tells her now that he's back and she can get fat again. She is insulted by his self-centered attitude and tells him to go away. In the end, I think he probably wins her back though by showing he really cares.

5. Untitled: I wanted to write the continuing saga of Orel and Christina, but never got to it. No solid ideas on this.

6. Raped: You may have read this. I'll probably put it up on my blog again.

7. Death: Orel's Grampa finally dies. Orel doesn't find too much solace from anyone and becomes a Goth kid, getting heavily into the Christian Death Metal band: Multiple Godgasm. Don't want to say much more about this, on the remote chance that there will be a Moral Orel movie, I'd like to use a lot of this story.

First of all Dino, let me say "thank you".  "Thank you" for doing whatever it was you had to do to get this show on the air for as long as it lasted.  I was quite a late comer to MO, but I'm glad I found it.  I still feel it's unfortunate that [as] canned it just as it was hitting it's stride.  Yes, I know Nature+Season 3 were NOT what you pitched, but c'mon GOLD is GOLD.  After re-watching the formulaic shows from the beginning, I think Season 3 would be easier to promote to the [as] crowd.

Anyway, I would have loved to see more story on Block & Shapey, although I'm not sure I could handle a full 12 minutes of "MINE!!!" and "NO!!!".

I'm glad that the Putty/Florence episode never got made.  I was very annoyed with Putty's behavior in "Sundays".  I LOVE that Stephanie is Putty's salvation/redemption.  Putty in "Closeface" & "Honor" made me warm inside... or was that the whiskey?

More on Orel & Christina would have been beautiful, fortunately "Closeface" covered a lot with very little.

I did not get to see the "Raped" script, but I assumed quite a bit from "Lonliness" about Sculptham.

I'm still praying for an ongoing "Parables of Moralton" series on [as], but a movie, a special feature, anything more would be great.

Thank you Dino.
