I hope there is a good explanation for this. To be honest, I haven't been happy with CN/AS programming and management in a while. It seems that the current crew really does not understand the channel they program and run. Killing Toonami was a huge mistake. The announcement that CN is trying to develop 12 live action series! It's bad enough that they air live action movies, not related to catoons/comics already. These are two networks (in one) for animation Live action goes against everything that should air.

As far as Morbito itself, yes it was slow, but if you watch it, it is a highly intelligent, well crafted story that should pay us back for our viewing. It has been rather impressive in content and style. Hopefully, it just a glitch and it will be returned soon.

it will be, but it might take a while. AS is trying to get in more viewers for the rest of the winter season. but once spring comes around, they will be back.

I don't agree with Midnight Zombie's theory that [AS] stuffed Moribito back in the can in a bid to increase Saturday viewership.  Moribito was doing about as well as Geass R2, and when we saw Moribito's ratings the show was consistently drawing over 200K.  

Moves like replacing tired old ATHF with the fresher American Dad do make sense from a viewership-boost perspective, but pulling one fairly decent audience draw and replacing it with a show that has about the same drawing power makes no sense.  No, until I find out otherwise, I'm inclined to believe that some kind of dub copyright problem or other goof-up by Media Blasters halted the show. 

I would be very cross with [AS] if I found that they decided on their own to stop Moribito, and I would then be hoping Media Blasters sics a a squad of  contract lawyers on [AS].  But until that was confirmed by an authoritative source, I prefer to believe [AS] couldn't possibly be so incredibly asinine.  (^_*)

It appears I was correct in speculating the Adult Swim cancellation of Moribito was the result of a licensing problem, not an Adult Swim business decision. 

A post today (Jan 17) in the Mania.com anime DVD forums by Media Blasters President John Sirabella indicates the USA TV dub licensing rights never rested with Media Blasters and reverted to Production IG in Japan when Geneon collapsed.  His post, responding to calls for information about the [AS] Moribito situation, says Blasters picked up only the DVD license rights and has nothing to do with the English dub's TV license. 

Here's what he wrote:

"Just so you folks understand, we do not handle the TV distribution of the program. As you all pointed out, the deal was done previously and we picked up the DVD distribution. This is a matter between the CN and the producers. If they can work it out than we will be happy to do the work so it [CN] can get the remaining episodes on TV, otherwise we will handle the DVD distribution."

By the way...
Mods don't work for [as], thus they aren't treated to insider information about the shows.

So Bast knows as much as the rest of us do about the status of Moribito... and any other show that airs.

All this mistreatment of Moribito = proof that [AS] WANTED it to fail right from the beginning.

Actually, they just ran into trouble with getting more episodes... It has nothing to do with them wanting it to fail from the begining, that doesn't even make any sense.

I beg to differ with your latter point, considering that they premiered Moribito at 1:30 Ante when it started, then crammed it into the 5:30 Ante death slot with Code Pizza Hut after only a couple eps aired.

Seeing as how Media Blasters had the rights to it since '07, and they've commissioned Bang Zoom to dub it back then, you'd think they'd have dubbed it all the way by now, so I don't see how they could possibly have trouble getting more eps.

All the episodes are dubbed, AS just doesn't have the rights to air episodes past #10. It was posted in this thread.

this brings up a whole new question tho... did AS KNOW they only had the rights to air only the first 10 episodes of this (i think) 26 eps anime? if so... thats not exactly a smart thing to do cuz youll end up getting angry viewers (case in point)

at any rate..i cant help but notice how they managed to sneak their hour of inuyasha back into the schedule...youd think theyd learn by now..

on a side note, i wish someone would dub the remaining episodes of case closed, zatch bell, and one piece(by funimation, tho i guess they ARE in the process of dubbing up to atleast the current episodes that have already been dubbed)

and case closed isnt long, i mean look how long the dragon ball series went on,  and look how long pokemon is still going lol (granted i guess they are still releasing eps in japan of that one)

They're still coming out with new Zatch Bells on Toonami Jet Stream. There should also be DVDs eventually.
