Well it is not official, besides if they told us the changes, then they would announce that they are removing more anime off of Turner due to lack of ratings, and budget issues, in order to keep the Williams Street originals alive.

Moribito is listed on the 12/17/08 schedule;

Perhaps something happened with MediaBlasters.

It is possible they ran into production problems.

This.

WS is still airing an anime in Moribito's place (InuYasha) so any complaints about this further shafting anime are unfounded.

I love how people just assume that anime is being shafted when it has almost an entire night dedicated to it....sure first couple hours are comedy, but then it's all anime with no repeats....any other night sh*t gets repeated right around 2 am onward....so basically you're gettin more anime than any given comedy night....then again, that's off of a guesstimate.

They've updated the schedule today and Moribito is gone for the unforeseeable future.

I wish they'd let us know whether Moribito's halt is because of something Media Blasters did or failed to do.  If Blasters only had the first 10 episodes in dub, then there'd be nothing more for [AS] to show and it would be [AS] who's a victim along with those of us who've enjoyed this show.

With glitches like this, it's no wonder people are turning to the Internet for their anime.  (^_*)

AS has the entire show licensed, it's a matter of whether or not Media Blasters has sent them the episodes yet. So AS will get those other episodes eventually, if they don't have them already (which they probably don't).

Edit: Or maybe AS is just like, "screw it we're not finishing the series!" and isn't planning on showing the rest of it. But I don't think AS has don't that before, except with Case Closed because the series was LONG.

There are ways to shaft anime other than removing it from the schedule. Like, say, replacing an anime with Inuyasha.

I understand that production delays happen, and indeed that is probably the case here, but there are tons of other things that they could have shown. Blood+, for example, hasn't been shown in a while.

In spite of my disliking InuYasha, I can't say I feel as though anime is being shafted here because AS is replacing one anime for one episode of InuYasha. If it was every anime then yeah, I would definitely agree that that would be shafting anime, but at this point I don't think that's what's going on. And I would love it if Blood+ aired.

I wonder if they did lose the rights to Blood +, there's no reason for them to air double the inuyasha when there is an open slot now...

Inuyasha has been played absolutely to death the last few years. There is no potential new viewership for it whatsoever. Replacing Moribito on the schedule with Inuyasha would be tantamount to replacing it with Family Guy. It's a terribly inefficient use of airtime, even if it is effectively just a half hour in the graveyard slot.

Frankly, the rest of the new Saturday schedule doesn't bother me so much. It's really just the same schedule, moved up a half hour to accommodate the loss of Moribito.

Replacing Moribito with Inuyasha might be a minor trespass, but it's still a trespass.

i think i may know whats up. i wouldnt know this off hand, but what if AS wasnt doing too good, economicaly.from what i found out on other boards, AS might be struggling, thats why theyre bringing in some crappy shows. that might be the big reason why AS bought the rights for KOTH, the PJ's, and why they replaced moribito with shin chan. i know it may be a stupid move, but maybe what they were thinking is that if they take a mainstream show from a popular network (why FOX, i wouldnt really know), and they put it on at a early time, they might draw in the younger audiences, or increce the audience they have now. but for a straight fact, just wait untill the next season, maybe things will pick up..............hopefully.

I wish [as] would at least say something about it like if its a technical problem with the dubbing or if they just flat out cancelled it.  They need to tell us something other than "New episodes air - hey, where did the new episodes go?" at the top of the moribito page.

That's not even [as]; that's the HELPeR for Moribito, who is every bit as in the dark about this as the rest of us. :smileytongue:

And filling in the now-empty slot with an Inuyasha rerun may not shaft anime quantitatively, but it sure as hell does qualitatively. Even putting aside the fact that Moribito is a far better show than Inuyasha, it was a premiering show (or it would have been, had the next episode been left on the schedule). It's entirely akin to cutting off something like Superjail midway through its initial order of episodes and filling in its time slot with Aqua Teen reruns we've all seen 50 times before.

Hey there that's an interesting theory, you might be right about that.

One thing though, if you copy paste the same message in multiple threads around the board, it's called spam. So just keep that in mind when you are posting.
It's perfectly fine to have the same or similar discussions in multiple threads, but .. you know, just be careful about the spam.

so thats what spamming is? ok, i'll keep that in mind, thanks. but really, maybe they are hurting for more viewers, or maybe this would be their off season, and maybe next season, things would get better.

well, i do. it seems to be a successful show for the mainstreamers and anime vets, but others dont understand the show. odds are, moribito went on hiatus for the rest of the season. it might be back in mid-spring or so. and remember, good things come to those who wait.

Just got the heads up over at Anime News Network, so I thought I'd make my way over to the boards to remind myself why I hate [AS] more and more every week...

Adult Swim Removes Moribito from Weekend Schedule
posted on 2009-01-16 22:13 EST
Takes effect this weekend with most other anime moved up; 2nd Inuyasha added

America's Adult Swim television network has removed the Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit (Seirei no Moribito) adventure anime series from its schedule for this weekend. The last episode to run was episode 10 last weekend. The anime series is also missing from Adult Swim's schedule for the next three months. Instead, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and the rest of the anime programs after it have been rescheduled one half hour earlier, and a second weekly episode of Inuyasha has been added.

The Moribito anime adapts Nahoko Uehashi's intricately detailed fantasy novel about a spearwoman who protects a prince from his own father and other enemies. The North American publisher Scholastic published the novel in English last June. Media Blasters picked up the distribution rights for the anime from Geneon Entertainment, and Bang Zoom! Entertainment has been dubbing the episodes since before its August television premiere.

Thank you to Herbkir for the news tip.

Kagome: "I like you as a Hanyou, Inuyasha..."
