I saw this as a book

I work in a library and i surpsingly saw this as book, not manga, but a straight up novel. It was cool espcially seeing how my lame library had it.

Yeah, the anime series is based on that novel, which is the first in a series of children's fantasy novels. By most accounts I've heard, the anime is actually an improvement on the source novel, which is kind of the exception as far as adaptations go. I'd love to read the rest of the novels myself, as they continue the story well beyond where the anime left off, but unfortunately only the first was officially translated and released here.

Yami no Moribito (Moribito II: Guardian of Darkness) was also released in the US. That's it, though.

There are 3 more Moribito books after that (though one of those books is two volumes long and another is three) and two Tabibito books that focus on Chagum. Plus one final book that is basically a prequel and covers things like Tanda-Balsa backstory and stuff.

If you haven't read any of the books yet, I recommed you do, they are fantastic! JUST as good as the anime. I only wsh the anime was more popular here when it aired so the second book could have been turned into a series as well.
