About time someone made the Balsa/Motoko connection!  IMHO, Balsa resembles Major Motoko Kusanagi from GiTS than Saya from Blood: The Last Vampire.  Check the Moribito opening above.  They got the hair color right...

My 2 cents on various posts:

Moribito definitely has an Avatar-like feel & that may grab fans finishing up Avatar.  As for action, it's mostly Naruto-like; lots of sword/spear clanging & fights.  Not much blood, except in spots!  Here's a YouTube clip that uncut makes the case for Adult Swim over Toonami.  However, go up to just before Balsa plays Amateur Surgeon, and cut to the slave girl saying "What have you done...?", showing the guy falling down... dead.  Cut the cut & you have Toonami; keep the cut & [adult swim] fer sure.  Would Narutards & parents of Narutards be cool with Balsa killing an assassin?  We know the dozens of Moribito fansubbers would whine at such a cut, but it could be done.

The Anime News Network show page only has 3 credited VA's for the dub, plus Tara Platt without a credited character.  I haven't seen the Buso Renkin dub, so I don't know what she sounds like as Tokiko.  Hopefully if Balsa looks like Motoko, Geneon used Mary Elizabith McGlynn.  Has she ever worked on Bang Zoom! productions, though?  Bang Zoom! did the ADR Production & dub for Moribito.

I borrowed Buso Renkin from my sister to see how Tara Platt's voice was. The voice that she used for Tokiko wouldn't be right for the mature, but caring Balsa. BUT, if she adjusted her voice and has a good director pointing her in the right direction, It will probably be OK.

We will just have to wait and see when the official cast list is announced. If Mary McGlynn gets Balsa, Ill be very excited. But im not gonna plan on it though.

BTW, I though the voice acting in Buso Renkin was kinda poor. I just don't feel like the characters yelling and anger scenes are being expressed enough. Its not bad or anything, I just dont feel at home with the voices.

Edit:// Looks like McGlynn is with Animaze, so I won't bet she will be Balsa.

It will bomb so bad it'll be the end of anime on AS. It will. No promotion will mean few will even know it is on, and those will do discover it will think it is boring after a rather exciting first few episodes. Now this is what I expect from somedude248, not bashing a show without explaining why.  I don't think it will end anime on [as], but if rebel_cheese is right & they're putting it on to actually kill anime, then [as] Finally Hates Anime.  I think it could hoover bad, once the Kick @$$ fighting in the beginning supposedly goes away.  Will they pull it & if they do, will that be an [adult swim] 1st?!  BTW, Claymore is still on the table... I hope... the FUNimation site says "Coming Soon".  Another FUNi title is D.Gray-man... "Coming 2009"...

As for Toonami v. [adult swim], Moribito could have made Toonami with "a snip snip here & a snip snip there"... if done right.  CN may have been too lazy to edit it for Toonami, plus only being 26 eps, they dumped it on [as].  Also, if it's as talky as everyone claims, could it hold Tweens attention (9-14)?  6-11 boys would drop it as soon as all the good fights were done.

D.Gray-man's Toonami v. [adult swim] status has been debated also.  It has 92 episodes, so that would keep it on Toonami for a while.  2 Points:

1. How much editing would it need to get a TV-PG V rating & be on Toonami? 5%?  10%?  20% or more?!
2. Would CN be willing to place a supernatural show on Toonami?  In the past, shows like Yu Yu Hakusho were uncut on [as], but butchered to TV-Y7 FV for Toonami.  Bleach would need to be cut from TV-14 V to TV-PG V for Toonami; unless CN/Toonami finally allowed TV-14 series.  Also, the question of Christian AKA Roman Catholic themes comes up.  [as] had no problems with Trinity Blood; I don't see them having a problem with D.Gray-man.  Would CN be too shy to risk D.Gray-man on Toonami, edited or not?

Good pickup by [as].  If there's one thing sorely missing in anime these days, it's a strong female protaganist in the lead, and Moribito is one of the few recent anime that has just that.  I'll definitely be watching Moribito.
