What's With No Moribito? What's YOUR Side, [as]?

Nope. There are 26 episodes and all of them have aired.

Well... there are more stories in the Moribito franchise, but those haven't been animated.

"I watch the world. The sun shines. Stars twinkle. Plants grow. Animals feel. And humans have souls. I watch the soul. The soul can hear the voice of God. Taste its sweet fragrance. Savor its words. Touch its outstretched fingertips. I watch the world. I watch the soul. I realize that the light guides my footsteps."

Seems like they just cut it off, unless the series is still being finished in Japan?

No, the series is complete; its final episode was as definitive of a conclusion as I've seen in anime. As Noble10 noted, the series was based on the first of a multiple-volume light-novel series, so there are several more stories that haven't been animated yet, but the Guardian of the Spirit story was told in its entirety.

Even so, the last episode was just a wrap-up episode.  So yes, very definitive ending, but yes... there are more Moribito books that haven't been animated.

The one correction I would make is that these aren't really light novels - they're full-fledged books in the 250-400 page range. More Harry Potter than Baka-test...

Baka-test?

By the way, has there been any news on the book front?  Are we still not going to get the rest of the series stateside?

Oh, and you said the books are comparable to Harry Potter books in length?  Then how could the series adapt something that long and add things?

Well - not quite Harry Potter in length.  As I said, 250-400 pages or so.  If you figure your typical 250 page YA novel, that translates to something less than 26 episodes on screen.  Some of the later books appear to be a little more epic in length and scope.

Baka-test is a light novel series - a very good one, but just the one I happened to use as an example.  These are small, relatively short paperbacks meant to be read on the train or the school bus, generally.

As for the novel translations, as far as I know Scholastic has bagged it after two volumes.  I suppose they might change their minds, but I don't think it's too likely, unfortunately.

Oh, I see.  Still a pretty decent-length of a book.  Interesting, the later Moribito books get longer, eh?

Ooh, I see.  I still don't know what you're talking about, but okay...  I'll take your word for it.

That's a shame, and I'd love to see some poor fool "fan-translate" a friggen novel, if such a term for it or process exists, which I doubt:smileyvery-happy:  Haha... darn... :smileysad:  Maybe they'll change their minds.  I would be interested to see what happens with Balsa and co. down the line.  It's too bad the franchise didn't catch on more...

NEVER doubt the insanity devotion of the fans.

Thanks, Chagum, that clears it up a bit.

And wow, Noble.  I saw on there that some people translated Harry Potter 7 into Chinese. :smileyvery-happy:
