After premiering this show on Aug. 23, 2008 for 3 Weeks @1:30 AM (12:30 CT), [as] changed its timeslot... to 5:30 AM (4:30 CT)!  Along with Code Geass Season 1 @5:00 (4:00 CT).  Most of us diehards kept watching and/or TiVo'ing/DVR'ing/taping.  The semi-casual ones who watched the 1st 3 episodes either TiVo'ed/DVR'ed/taped the Next 7... or Blew the Show off Altogether!  Finally I was ready for the Premiere of Episode 11, "Flower Wine for Tanda", looking forward to taping, but not to watching the show & seeing this before I went back to bed.  I check the Flash Schedule for 5:30 AM & see...

WTF?!?  Thanks to Anime News Network & not to [adult swim], I find Bandai beyotch-slapped [as] & made it put Code Geass R2 on at a semi-decent hour: 2:00 AM (1:00 CT).  Well that was better than 5:00.  As a bonus, Moribito was still rerun from ep 1... but at 1:30 AM (12:30 CT)!  Oh Joy!  Happy happy!  Fast-forward to Monday or Tuesday of this week & the Flash Schedule said at 1:30 AM...

No title?  No prob... in the early days, sometimes the title wouldn't be there.  2-3 Days Later on Thursday (yesterday), the Flash Schedule for SAT, JAN 17 starting at 1:30 AM said:

WHAT?!  What's on at 2:00 AM?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!  I scroll down to the bottom; I know InuYasha's on at 5:30 AM, but where's my beloved Balsa & Her Friends?  Finally I see:

5:00 a InuYasha - Terror of the Ancient Noh Mask

5:30 a InuYasha - Soul Piper and the Mischevious Little Soul

*crushed* * downtrodden* But Wait!  What happened in 2007 when the Finale of Eureka Seven was aired & [as] (accidentally?) edited the ending to get the usual commercials in?  One Word... RIOTING!  I don't know if this is another Hiatus... with NO Moribito this time... or an Outright CANCELLATION!  I've asked Media Blasters for information & help.  But in the words of Peter Finch in the movie Network:

I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!

I'm willing to hear your side of the story 1st, [adult swim].  Please have any & all SwimInsiders that know something about this & Aren't Under a Gag Order from CN or [as] post here.  People like BigCity, SwimHumbug... who was willing to get Moribito on AS Video someday.  BrandMerrill... who not long after Humbug said they were trying for streaming rights, said AS wasn't going to put Moribito on AS Video.  Of course, we'd LOVE to hear from Kim Manning AKA kimma & Good Ol' mnl AKA Mike N. Lazzo.  We'd like a believable reason from either Media Blasters or Adult Swim why there's a Good Reason Episode 11, "Flower Wine for Tanda" isn't premiering @1:30 AM Saturday night/Sunday morning... however, if we Don't Get an Answer from Either Side by 12:00 PM CT (1:00 ET/10:00 AM PT) tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 17...

LET THE MORIBITO RIOTS OF 2009 BEGIN!

I understand Ratings Rule TV & this is a Television "Network".  "Poor ratings", "boring shows"... after a while, they can become excuses.  Please, [as], No More Excuses!  Did you even expect Moribito had a Chance?!  Especially with THIS BUMP prior to the Premiere in August... REMEMBER?  If you can screw with the "low-rated" shows like Moribito, [as], you can Screw with ALL the Anime... which you've been doing for a Long Time!  Whether it's an "Oldie but Goodie" going All the Way to Cowboy Bebop or a Recent Show.  Give it a REST, Adult Swim... DON'T DO IT ANYMORE!

P.S.:  Pretty Please with Balsa on Top?!

Have we finally gotten an anime that won't even make it through an entire run? Could be the sign of no more worthwhile anime being picked up.

Wow, that blows hard. Can't even get past ten episodes. I was all looking forward to a new episode finally. I had gotten myself up at 5:30 to keep watching, and I watched all the repeats, albeit half-heartedly.

I say eff the riots. Let's just have a sit-in. Crowd around the offices, but say nothing. Just stare. Make them look at all the disappointed faces. Guilt them into airing the good stuff.

And wow. What kind of idiot decision is it to take out a new anime for another block for Inuyasha? That's even worse than moving Moribito to 5:30 the first time.

Eh, I stopped caring about the anime block (or in this case, whats left of it).

Dont get me wrong, I still like most of what they air on it nowadays, but its gotten so small that its not even worth complaining anymore. Best just to enjoy some quality comedy like Superjail instead of just being an anime fan with nothing better to do but whine. Im still a fan of anime, just not an activist one that constantly complains about the fate of the action lineup around here.

Sit-ins staged over TV scheduling is something I expect from disabled old ladies stuck in homes with kids that won't visit them... That and people having their civil rights infringed upon, which TV has no connection to, BTW... So they don't really count...

Also, if you really want an answer from "[as]", you'd probably have more luck posting something shorter in the Bumps folder. That doesn't mean it will happen, but your not likely going to get a response *from [as]* posting outside of "Bumps"...

Adult Swim tried to right its anime block.

Too little, too late.  Not even a full on injection of badass action shows may be enough to reverse the trend of Moribito-esque trash.

after looking at the Moribito show page.... it only shows Set 1 , which is only episodes 1-10....... now MB has been going through some strange times lately *dvds pushed back, dub work not getting done in time , etc.* so this could be a goof up on Media Blasters fault..... however [as] really should atlease say something to the fans of this series, just like they did with Code Geass when it went through the 3 week period.....

either way, looks as if Moribito could be going the way of Cyborg 009 and .hack//roots ...... never being finished *yea i know... Sony never did finish the dub of Cyborg 009 though >.>*

here's hope that [as] wont let Moribito leave however... still their best anime that they are playing right now

At this point, only the first 10 episodes of Moribito are being released on DVD, with Ep. 8-10 coming out Feb. 10.  I haven't seen anything about further DVD releases.    Maybe the halt to Moribito isn't really Adult Swim's fault.  As already mentioned, Media Blasters' operations have hit a rough spot. 

Although folks believe the Moribito dub was completed last year by Bang Zoom, I wonder if some kind of screwy copyright issue with the dub is keeping Blasters from supplying the rest of the series to [AS]?   Just look at what happened with the just-completed Watchmen movie that almost got locked in the can forever  because of a copyright fight between Warner and Fox,.  (The companies settled Friday so the movie will be released on schedule in March.)  

I really wish Kim or someone at [AS] would explain what happened with Moribito so we would know who to get mad at.  (^_*)

As much as I fancied myself General of the Moribito Riots of 2009, I know when to retreat... but this may not be over Yet!  Please continue to watch the Mania.com thread... if MB admits problems & says there's No More Balsa & Friends either temporary or forever... I'll accept that.  If ANN (Anime News Network) reports in the next 2 weeks that [as] has been beyotch-slapped with a Breach of Contract lawsuit... then I'LL BE BACK!  As I said on the ToonZone Forum, "MB may not be as Big a Dog as Bandai, but even a poodle biting your ankles hurts Like Heck!  And since when do Lawyers care who they're suing... as long as the Money's Good & They've Got a Strong Chance to Win!"

Edited to add:  Until Moribito returns... if it ever does... somedude248 wins.  I'm finished with [adult swim] on Saturdays & probably the other 6 days as well.  My anime appetite will now be satisfied by DVD's & Sci Fi's Ani-Mondays.  Maybe on Sundays for Robot Chicken premieres, Venture Bros. premieres & When or If Lazzo stops jerking around Loren Bouchard & Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil returns... as a 30-minute Show!  Sorry, Superjail! is Same Old, Same Old now, but I would like to catch up with The Drinky Crow Show.  Look Around You & The Mighty Boosh?  Meh... somebody tell me if these Britcoms are any good.  Garth Marenghi's Darkplace was very funny, but [as] didn't want to pick up Man to Man with Dean Learner.  ATHF?  Premieres?!  Is that still on?!?  If I'm bored, I'll watch King of the Hill in the early evening or early morning... like I used to watch InuYasha.  I'll lurk around the ASMB & post from time to time, but unless Moribito returns or John Sirabella's lawyers beyotch-slap Lazzo & CN, and take them to court, you won't see much more of me.  It's been Real, it's been Fun... but sometimes the way [adult swim] treats Anime & Other Good Shows... It Ain't Been Real Fun!   Way to improve Saturday ratings by driving away viewers, huh?!

even the title is misleading. there was no sex scenes. and even if adult swim tried to be funny about it they failed. becuz i find that offensive.

Well, it looks like the Moribito cancellation resulted from a licensing dispute, not an Adult Swim business decision.  So I guess [AS] got screwed over along with us fans of Moribito.  

A post today (Jan 17) in the Mania.com anime DVD forums by Media Blasters President John Sirabella indicates the USA TV dub licensing rights never rested with Media Blasters and reverted to Production IG in Japan when Geneon collapsed.  His post, responding to calls by Billyarnie and others for an explanation about the [AS] situation, says Blasters picked up only the DVD license rights and has nothing to do with the English dub's TV licensing.  Here's what he wrote:

"Just so you folks understand, we do not handle the TV distribution of the program. As you all pointed out, the deal was done previously and we picked up the DVD distribution. This is a matter between the CN and the producers. If they can work it out than we will be happy to do the work so it [CN] can get the remaining episodes on TV, otherwise we will handle the DVD distribution."

I'll bet CN/AS and Production IG disagreed on the price for the rest of the dubbed episodes, so the show's [AS] run has ended.  At least it appears there will be additional DVDs coming so fans can eventually buy or rent the whole series.   And who knows, maybe the show will turn up on IFC someday.  (^_*)

 It is looking like the situation with Moribito is getting uglier by the day.

If Media Blasters is held to a situation where they cannot release the DVDs

until the eps air, and not even having the rights to get the eps aired, it could be a very

long wait for DVDs.

Same snail's pace Kim Kim the **bleep!** programming monkey wants for all her shows.  That and very little happened.  Even the pilot movie "Blood- The Last Vampire" had a decent premise but didn't slow to a crawl.
