Low Ratings were a contributing factor. The other more major one was the contract issues. The reason Moribito went on hiatus early is cause the company that owned it and had the initial airing contract went under. So when the show was rescued by another company, they had to work out another contract in order for [as] to finish airing it. However, by this time, much of the viewership had either moved to seeing the remainder through fansubs, or had dropped the show entirely.
