Hey Curtis. Coming at you with a few questions:

1) I'll level with you: "Fat Guy Stuck In Internet" stank. But I know it wasn't your fault, [adult swim] tooled it around with it too much, beginning with that horrible name. Has it came to a point where you wanted to, back then of course, kick them in the bawls?

2) Now that you're doing NTSF:smileyfrustrated:D:smileyfrustrated:UV::, ever thought about writing a script where there's an evil Mayor McCheese type villian out to set off destruction in San Diego? I figure he would compliment Trent Hauser's obsession with burgers.

3) Alphonse every now and then spits out a few comparison statements involving Alaska. Do you have some of your own?

So, I'm assuming all the ideas for episodes of NTSF:smileyfrustrated:D:smileyfrustrated:UV were inspired by fever dreams/nightmares, bad acid trips, detours in Tijuana, etc.

But have you ever come up with an idea that no one would touch? That made even the produces of this show look at you like you were sick and wrong?

Also, what's it like to work for the Onion? Do you just walk around feeling awesome all the time?

I think Phil LaMarr just accused me of trolling also, boobs, lesbians, undergarments

I have questions. Mostly about your 30 seconds on Childrens Hospital, but still, questions:

What's it like guest starring on Childrens Hospital? Also how did you go about getting the part? Like did they just call you and were like, "we need someone to wear a Rastafarian wig, you'd be perfect!" or was there more to it?
Did you ever find a world wide web cafe?
What measures has the NTSF:smileyfrustrated:D:smileyfrustrated:UV taken to prevent the terrorists from winning?

i'll answer your questions in order!

1) ehhhh, i don't think it stank.  in fact, i think it was great!  i, of course, preferred the original shorts we made for several reasons. A) we could do whatever we wanted B) we could do whatever we wanted.  it never came to the point where i wanted to kick AS in the bawls!  they've been a steady employer/supporter of mine for years now, and i salute them.  no other network on TV would have taken the risks they did to put our material on the air (as compromised as it neded up).  the trouble with TV vs. love is that TV answers to advertisers and lawyers in the S&P departments.  Where love answers only to yourself.

2) evil mayor mccheese?  hmmm....don't sue me if it ends up on the small screen.

3) in alaska, people loved fat guy stuck in internet.

1) believ it or not, the only idea i came up with that my fellow producers didn't wnat to do, was an episode where jason mraz is using sonic ukeles to hypnotize the women of san diego, turning them into bloodthirsty canibals.   in retrospect, maybe they were right?

2) working for the onion was awesome, though short lived.  about a month or two into the process, we were offered the fat guy stuck in internet show on AS. irnoically, the Onion AV club viscerated u sin their reviews.  no home cooking, i guess.

Dark Lord...

i'm flattered you call it "guest starring" since they took my line out of the show!  that creep gemberling got to have his moment in the CHildren's Hospital sun, and i had to just stand there like a silent goon.  originally i said some shit.  can't remember what it was now.

i got asked to do it because i'm friends with all those guys.  corddry, etc...they just called up and asked if we wouldn't mind stopping by the hospital to do a bit. they ar eincredibly funny, awesome people.  love them.

i never did find a WWW cafe...

you can see what measures NTSF:smileyfrustrated:D:smileyfrustrated:UV::  has taken to prevent terrorism by tuning in every thursday night at 12:15am!

How did you hook up with NTSF?  Did Paul contact you or was it just something you guys were always wanting to do or how did that come about?

paul and jon stern (Children's producer) aske dme to join up as an EP/writer last november.  i had worked with paul many, many times before at the UCB theater, fat guy and as a writer for human giant.  we've been friends for over a decade, so it was realy easy to say yes and dive in. jon stern and i are also working on a new series for adult swim created by the genius behind TV Carnage, mr. derrick beckles, who i am a giant fan of.

excitement!

I actually loved Gemberling/Fat Guy (I hate calling it "Fat Guy"), but I think it's one of those shows that kind of grows on you after awhile.  And there's a lot of that kind of stuff on Adult Swim.  Stuff that sneaks up on you.  Is there pressure in television to create that "immediate hit" and have a sort of pop-culture obviousness built into it from the start?  And how do you approach that balance of love vs commerce, especially in an executive producer role?

That is cool, I was disappointed when Adult Swim dropped the "Totally 4 Teens" thing, which I thought was hilarious.

yes, calling it fat guy can be very painful.  comsidering what a labor of love the original shorts were for us.

in TV, there's always a pressur eto be an immediate hit.  even at a place like AS, which in general is VERY VERY creator firendly and patient.  at the end of the day, they still need to prove themselves to the advertisers that pay the bills.  so it's a symbiotic thing...you have to create something you love, but that thing must also (if you're lucky) be popular with the audience.  love and commerce will always be at at least SLIGHT odds with one another...unless your love IS commerce.

not sure whose idea the second colon was...probably scheer, or stern.  those types of decisions are a shade above my paygrade.

saturdays are spent either performing, writing, drinking, dancing, spelunking, white water rafting, quickening, mind melding, jedi training, garbage barging, vampiring or netflixing.

Thanks for answering my questions, Curtis. I just didn't like the [adult swim] version of your show as much as I tried to watch it every week when it was airing. I much prefered the Gemberling shorts. However I would have to say that I did love Chains (played by you, of course) on FGSiI.

How tight where those costumes you guys had on? Ever felt sweaty....down there?
