Episode 7 explained the angel cover up in that what the general public knew as second impact was a lie. As well it showed that nerv or seele sabotaged the jet alone project so they would be the only option for stopping the angels.

So why did I need a whole half hour for that?

They could have done that in 2 minutes of talking and I would have been happy

They needed to filll a half hour time spot. The first half of the angel recap episode I think was more useless. Yeah the jet alone episode wasn't good, but not every episode in any series is great....Unless you ask Adult Swim about FLCL:smileyindifferent:

Hey everyone, check out the new pictures from Fuji-Q Highland.  There's quite a few photos and some video of the new Eva Unit 02 head they've built.  They sadly forgot to add tons of blood.  I call shenanigans.

Word on the street is that Studio Khara is going to have a large feature in the June issue of NewType.

The expectation is that since they've been quiet for ages and haven't done much in the way of reportage, it must be related to Evangelion 3.0.

Here's to hoping.

http://forum.evageeks.org/viewtopic.php?t=11154

My assumption is that since it's the June issue, it will be on stands in May? Maybe we'll have a release date for 3.0 this time next month.

It would be great to hear news about 3.00 or anything about the Gainax  vs Khara dispute. If it's anything other than release info for 3.00 then it will be dodgey at best about the company affairs which is pretty much an IDK form the company.  Courts and all that legal stuff tend to be left out of interviews so as not to anger the blood so to say. Still I hope that it will be released this summer.

That's sensationalist nonsense.  There is no Gainax/Khara split or dispute.  That's reading way too much into things.  It's merely that in 2006, Hiroyuki Yamaga was set on making Gurren Lagann, and Hideaki Anno was set on making Rebuild/New Theatrical Version Evangelion.  Gainax wasn't prepared to do both, and I doubt they were prepared to do Evangelion the way Anno wanted.

Anno made his own company to make these new movies.  I don't think it was by any means the wrong decision.  Two very awesome series got made.

There's no dispute between Gainax and Khara.  Yamaga and Anno wanted to do different things.  Doesn't mean that they personally had a dispute.  A dispute implies a bit more.  If anything, those two disagreed on what project to pursue.  And being as Yamaga is the president, he probably got the final say.  This was before Khara even existed.  So it has nothing to do with the companies, really.

So far, all I'm seeing is Japanator saying "there's a dispute", and Carl Horn saying "there isn't a dispute".  In this case, I'm going to going with the word of someone who has actually worked on Evangelion, and who actually talked with someone directly involved.

Well now it's just picking at words

dis·pute/disˈpyo͞ot/

Noun: A disagreement, argument, or debate.
Im not saying that 3.00 will never come out, but something did happen that has held up the production. The film was supposed to be released last summer. I would like to see a Gurren Lagann film as well.
Carl Horn like many of the other people in the business don't always give the full story or will play things down so as not to cause an argument. Many companies like to keep their problems in house if they can. When word gets out that something is wrong it can affect sales and peoples interest in the company. While Carl may be right that there is no problem at the same time he may just not want to add unneeded fuel to anger/worry the fanbase. Especially when it's concerning a company that he regularly does business with.

Hey guys! I know it's been...oh...the better part of two or three YEARS since I posted last, but hopefully my evaluation of the new Evangelion 2.22 movie English Dub will make up for it...somewhat...

First the Originals:

Spike Spencer (Shinji) - Awesome as per usual. Age has definitely improved the quality of his acting with regards to this character. There's a depth to his acting that honestly wasn't there throughout the series, and only started emerging with the first pair of movies.

Tiffany Grant (Asuka)
- The name may have changed but the voice remains the same. Granted there was no German dialogue or fangirl swooning over Kaji, but Tiffany Grant managed to keep the core aspects of the fire-engine redhead intact and brings a performance that makes even the most skeptical have to applaud. Out of all the original V/A's, she's the one who HONESTLY gets her character and understands what she's all about.

Allison Keith-Shipp (Misato)
- I have to admit, when 1.01 came out, it seems as though she was still trying to get back to the role and there were moments when she didn't quite seem like herself and the acting was a little rusty. Evangelion 2.22 removes all traces of that as Allison Keith-Shipp brings her purple-haired character to life with a vengeance.
Now, the new guys:

Trina Nishimura (Mari) - ENTER A NEW CHALLENGER! Because Mari is not a character that was in the original series, I have nothing to compare her to, but I must say, I really enjoyed her portrayal of our newest pilot. She is so believable as Mari, and I am thankful that the rumors that Mari was going to have a British accent were just rumors!

Brina Palencia (Rei) - Amanda Winn-Who? Just kidding. But seriously, out of all the replacements in the movies, this one, to me, was one of the most important. Because Rei is such an integral part of the Evangelion franchise, and Amanda Winn-Lee had already established Rei
's tone and demeanor for the English dubs, I was a little concerned that the new V/A would not be able to match her awesome performance. And I was right. Brina didn't match it; she blew it out of the water. It was as though she had been playing the role for years instead of just for two movies. It blows my mind how perfectly she fits into the role and captures Rei.
John Swasey (Gendo) - Of course, we're already familiar with his portrayal of Gendo in the Directors Cut edition of the original series when Tristan McAvery proved unavailable. In my view, John does a good job of playing Gendo, but he doesn't quite have that cruel SNAP that Tristan had. It's less "Good lord above, he's a low down dirty dog!!" and more "Wow...he's a really bad father."

J. Michael Tatum (Kaji) - I have no complaints about this one; he sounds a lot like the original Japanese V/A, except he speaks English WAY better. Yeah, I went there.

Jerry Jewell (Kaworu) - Funimation Entertainment, you rock my socks. Plain and simple. You Rock My Socks. You cast the perfect, PERFECT person as Kaworu; Jerry has the same kind of voice like Kyle Studivant, Kaworu's original V/A, but he adds his own little quirks and tweaks to the voice that makes takes it beyond awesome. No squeaky-raspy here...and speaking of...

Greg Ayres (Kensuke) - FINALLY...He finds his place in the Eva franchise. Now, don't get me wrong, Greg is one of my all time favorite anime V/A's of all time. But his portrayal of Kaworu in the Directors Cut of Evangelion was...shall we say...wrong. However, I have since forgiven this, and am very happy to hear him play Eva's resident techno-geek. Typecasting, maybe. But awesome, absolutely.

Justin Cook (Toji) - All I can say is that he played this role very well...just like all the other Toji's that came before him. Seriously, Toji has had like 4 voice actors so far, and while they're all consistent, I think it's hillarious that one of  the most non-essential persons in the movie has had the most V/A's in the entire franchise.

Mike McFarland (Hyuga) - I have to give Director McFarland his props for following the unofficial Evangelion tradition of casting himself as the glasses-wearing Nerv Technician just like Matt Greenfield before him. Thankfully, or perhaps sadly, there is no trace of Black Hyuga (Keith Burgess).

Welcome back I used to be hunterjames, but you may not remember me.

I personally wasn't a fan of J. Michael Tatum's Kaji. He seemed more like a james bond knock off than the playful kaji from the series.

I like both Kaji's and perhaps the condensation of the series means doing the same with the characters and how we percieve them

Well the characters did change a lot. Asuka for the most part matured and is full of less hate. Rei actually has emotion and Shinji isn't a little cry baby 24/7.

Asuka also is no longer part-German (A fact pointed out by Tiffany Grant in the commentary track) and she also no longer has a major crush on Kaji.

Welcome back. While you were gone, we have been very busy. We have established the Revolution of Evangelion at one convention with another slated for May. We hope to have great success there.

As for my thoughts on Rebuild, well...I think Spike Spencer said it best "Shinji drops one. Not both, just the one"

I like how shinji tries to play pimp with Asuka and Rei in the last half of the movie.
