I've wondered about it for a while, especially after FUNico came to be.

I've never had a problem with Crunchyroll's player, member or nonmember. :/
There was the time when I decided to marathon the Endless Eight for shts and giggles and the same two commercials would play every time it went to an ad. That was pretty awful, but I've never had any super terrible technical problems
Aaaanywho, I'll be watching this series as well.

Why do I have a feeling that the Stephen King book is a hint of what's to come? ![]()
Creepiest class photo ever. They all looked like Dolfies, and their heads were all disproportionate to each other. It didn't help that there were dolls all strewn thoughout the episode.
That was really weird when he's getting to know his classmates and all the people who we see talking are not the ones who are talking. It was like the audio was out of sync, but not.

Well, there's the immediate parallel of Misaki being around when she isn't supposed to be. Though, Pet Semetary was physical rebirth, and she seems to be more along the lines of a spirit/ghost.
It sounded from the plot synopsis that this takes place well after Misaki died, but it gave the vibe (probably intentionally) that it was shortly after; not 26 years later. Looking at the class she was actually from would be pretty interesting, but if they're going to portray it with time-repeating for another class, which for continuity sake and for potential purpose of the title would make sense, I'm down with that.
The out-of-sync audo part was the only thing bothersome. Not sure what was up with that or if it was intentional. Everything else was pretty cleanly edited, so an accident of the sort seems unlikely...

I've had no problems with CR's player since I went member. TAN's is...TAN. Niconico is OK (pretty low quality though), but Funico has problems (which is weird, because aren't they the same player?). Hulu is good, but the ads are annoying.
As for this episode: I hate the trope of not telling the new guy important info just because it's something they don't talk about, but he's going to find out anyways. I know it's for the guy to go poking his nose where it doesn't belong, to bring suspense and danger and stuff, but it's damned annoying already (like teens going into places they shouldn't in slasher movies).

If you're trying to watch 720p videos, you may want to dial it down to 480p. It may not be as high-def, but it should play a bit more smoothly.

It was definitely intentional because it wasn't actually out of sync. Until the girl with glasses speaks again, all of the people we hear talking are guys, but many girls are in the shots we see. It's such an odd thing to do, I suspect it may have a purpose beyond being unsettling.
Or not.
Maybe they were just showing us what he was looking at while all these people were interrogating him.

Watched the first episode and Loved it!!! The Animation is sooooo good! dark dreery creepy the animation is more dark than DN i think. But for the story I like it alot but what gets me is how japanese ppl associate names with other meaning it just doesnt make sence i mean john smith doesnt mean more than a guys name but in japan a name like misaki could mean anything depending on how its spelled which doesnt make much sence... anyways i cant wait for the next episode i can tell now this is gonna be one of my favs even just for the animation (ie. the sky when he was on the roof of the school was awesome!)

John: "God is gracious". Not sure if it's specific to "Jonathan/Johnathan", but I've also heard "gift of God".
Smith: "Derived from the Anglo-Saxon "smitan," to smite or strike, SMITH and its derivations are an occupational name for a man who works with metal (smith or blacksmith)"

i mean if you want to go by that then every name has a background to it but its not used in the american culture as in when the parents name there kid they dont look into the background of the name, in japanese the written form of the name can be interprited as another word which leads me to believe when people say english is the hardest lanuage to learn they never tried to learn any asian language...

Depends on parent.
Some name after relatives, some just pick a name that sounds good, and some look into background info.
The words are more easily recognized in Japanese, but not many names have no meaning.

Yeah, but very few people in English speaking countries would know what someone's name meant off the top of their head and even fewer would then associate that meaning with the person. In Japan, where it's very easy to derive meaning from a name's component kanji, everyone knows what your name means. I feel like names are more important, culture-wise, in Japan rather than in the states.
It's just that most of our names come from other languages, or forms of English we no longer speak. Even so, we still have lots of names that mean things to us, especially girls' names, like Candy, Summer, Rose, Grace, Hope, Harmony, not to mention month names and gemstones, and surnames that are occupations or colors or [father's name]son. Or names like Lawless, Starbuck, Freeman, and Forest that, whatever their origin, are recognizable words to us. And then there are the names that just sound like something we know, much to the chagrin of the people that must bear them. Buttz, Koch, Hogg, Dumpski, Bobbitt, Hardwick...

People say that because in English there are a lot of words that are spelled the same, but pronounced differently. It's pretty complicated to non-native speakers. And English grammar has a lot of rules with exceptions and so forth. I think it's because English borrowed so much from other languages in its development.. Asian languages like Chinese and Japanese may seem complicated to us, but from an actual linguistic viewpoint, the uniform pronunciation and grammar makes them much easier to learn than English.

I generally don't have many problems with the CR player. Once in a while, a video will freeze on me, but that's only if I've let the player sit there too long with a video paused.
I finally got offered a 30 day free trial and was able to watch the first episode. I watched it in 480p and it was good until the ED when it started stuttering like mad.
As far as the show goes, the first episode was promising. I'm curious to see where it will go from here.
