I was thinking that, but she's still too prominent. While it would be ironic that the one that is supposed to be defending against the extra is the extra, that just seems too obvious. But this is anime, so I wouldn't put it past them.

I'm still going with Art Boy. He's gay for MC, so anyone that threatens to get between them in the class is offed. Glasses girl starts liking MC? Umbrella. Nurse starts getting close? Elevator'd. Actress starts to talk to him? Almost glassed. Hisao wants to be his buddy? Heart attack. Mei is safe because she's not a part of the class, as far as he's concerned. Of course, he doesn't know he's the extra, so everything is subconcious, if that.

Either that, or it's Random Nameless Classmate #7.

It's gotta be one of the people it flashed to when Misaki was telling him this stuff. All the characters it showed had some kind of introduction at minimum. I think the art guy was in there, as well.

What was it that the actress girl had been saying when the glass fell? All the other people that died had let something slip if I remember correctly. Umbrella girl might not have, but I thought she did. And I'm too lazy to check.

At first Mei was creepy, now she's adorable.

I have the ominous feeling she'll be dead by the end of the show though. :smileysad:

Also looks like the teacher snapped, wonder if anyone will be joining him next episode.

MC's talk with his dad+the shot directly after made your theory seem notably more reasonable.

However, I still have my doubts that they'd be so obvious in a mystery series that's only half over.

On the flipside, I just read a good point:

Spoiler
The librarian said those outside of the town don't have altered memories, and the MC's dad is in India. In turn, he wouldn't be calling his son if he were dead.

Was anyone else up to this point picturing the original student who died as a chick? I don't know why I was so sure they had used a feminine pronoun to describe them previously. :/

Good twist at the end of the last episode.

Here's an interesting little tidbit that came to my attention in this episode. When MC was talking about the curse with his grandparents and aunt(?) Reiko, it was mentioned that the curse that had befallen Reiko's class that year, 15 years ago, was stopped midway through the year. Something would have to have happened to cause it right? Something did: MC was born and his mother died, most likely during that summer. But the question is, did MC exit the womb before his mother died or after? If she died before he popped out, it would essentially mean a dead person gave birth. I'm curious to see if that is the case and what effect it would have.

Something else that caught my attention is that people can have their memories altered if they are in the town. MC claims to have only been in Yomiyama when he was born and only visited periodically. But MC's dad who is in India said that MC had lived there a year and a half prior. I'm guessing MC's memories have been altered and the truth of his existance will ultimately lead to a solution for the calamity.

Also, the dance scene was hilarious! :smileyvery-happy:

Dance scene was the most awesomest thing ever in this show by far. Seriously though, if I were nonexistent with someone else, I'd be doing that in class everyday. :smileyvery-happy:

As for theories, perhaps giving birth stops the curse? Maybe make it more specific where someone from Class 3 in particular has to, but it's far too early to tell.

Also in the preview, dat bloodspray! Ish is gonna go down next episode!

It would be a good way to have a free pass on watching porn in class.

At the loudest volume possible.

I agree.  But it was funny how his dad was so easily swayed that the kid was right though.

I almost start to wonder if the whole school is dead.  It's remarkably decrepit.  Or maybe there is no Class 3.

And the dancing was great.  :smileyhappy:

Maybe the main character is a hallucination of himself and he's actually just some dude in a wheelchair stuck at the hospital and all the other people are hallucinations of the people he murdered.

Yeah, that whole thing with his dad being so easily swayed has me worried a bit. I have a feeling that the dad knows whats going on, but swore to keep quiet about it. I would assune he had a small slip of the tongue.

I doubt the whole school is dead. That would make the whole town dead. The thing you have to remember is that the building is at least 26 years old, if not more. And being way out in the boonies the way the town is, it wouldn't surprise me if funding for repairs was hard to come by.

There would have to be a class 3, otherwise there could be no 4 or 5. :smileytongue:

They should have that dancing every episode. :smileyvery-happy:  Like each week could have a different dance!

This would have been anime of the year if the dancing was real. But no.

Mei needs a pirate patch. Or maybe something like this.

Whelp, I just got spoilered. Went looking for some, but yah.

Anywho, will still watch it, because I only know two things from the ending, and I so do enjoy some new final destination (or dancing) every week.

I will say this, though (I'll still spoiler it, though it doesn't really need it):

Spoiler
There's only really been one usefull hint as to who the ghost is thus far.

Also, this is going to end sadly. But that was a given, because Japanese horror stories are not allowed happy endings.

Why does she even need an eyepatch at all?  The Japanese are crazy for odd eyes, so she'd be very popular, if she existed to them, that is.

No, they're crazy for pretty eyes, not odd eyes. The Japanese (of course in general) don't like anything that's "odd" of different, whether it's the gaijin walking down the street or someone with a glass eye, or someone standing out in general. This goes double for old-fashioned towns out in the boonies.

Plus, glass eyes are just off-putting to most people anyways, in a sort of uncanny-valley way. Mei's would be even more-so, not just because it's different from her natural eye color, but also because it was made for a doll; and while some doll eyes can be pretty close, most aren't, and judging from the dolls around Mei's isn't in the former category.

But perhaps the first paragraph explains the medical patch. A "pirate" patch stands out a lot (see above), and can only really mean that there's nothing behind it (or it's a costume). A medical patch, on the other hand, can mean anything from a missing eye to pink eye. While Mei's regular wearing of the patch would indicate something on the more extreme end to those that saw her a lot, for just walking around town or whatever it works well.

I don't think she knows much more. Didn't the librarian say everyone forgets about the ghost and whatever after the year is over? Apparently in her year it stopped after the summer, for whatever reason, and I think she genuinely doesn't know any more about it. She was obviously hiding something from MC, though, before this episode. Why? Doesn't the curse affect only the people connected to the class? I mean, everyone else can interact with the ignored just fine - including the old teacher. The only reason MC got into this mess is because no one - including Reiko and Mei - told him about the rules. But now the aunt is talking to him, which means she isn't currently involved. Messed up.

I think the key is what happened in Reiko's year, since that is one of the few times the curse was stopped. I have a theory (my spoilers didn't cover this): Since the whole trouble is that people aren't killed when they die, and they apparently do at the end of the year, which ends the curse for those kids and everyone forgets, etc., then perhaps what happens is that the curse isn't connected to the school year, but to the stiff - if they become more deceased, the curse is over. So, somehow, fifteen years ago the dead guy got killed, and the curse was over for the year.

I'm also guessing that the curse can't be ended permanently for some reason, because this is Japanese horror and there are no permanent solutions (other than everyone dying, maybe).

The thing in this show is the opposite of the meme, so the wording is opposite.

I get the feeling the curse itself is flawed. I don't think the curse is something entirely consistent in regards to how it actually works. In most cases it would come off as poor writing, but I get the feeling it's intentional. If it doesn't have a constant method, there's no constant counter, making it more dangerous. An enemy with no weakness is more threatening than one that does, being the main reason most horror films aren't scary. A curse that's not consistently solvable would raise the stakes.

Not to mention, the old teacher remembers everything. Maybe because he was connected to the class for so many years and not leaving within a year allowed him to remember, hence his ability to even find out that nobody else did. Logically speaking, if nobody remembered, then neither should he, correct? He's probably the one to inform the class from year to year, since someone has to remember for them to know. But maybe them knowing is ultimately the cause of death?

Anyway, I think the curse only counts towards the people who know about it and aren't being ignored.

I think the reason the countermeasures only work half the time is because they screw it up half the time.
