I didn't find this surprising between all the work he keeps saying he has to do and his constant "lack of sleep" look.

Ouch, hiatus until they graduate. I'm curious how all of this ties in with his uncle's death.

I'd imagine it's pretty obvious. Kawaguchi died by overworking himself trying to get serialised again, and Moritaka is in the hospital because he overworked himself.

You're right, I guess I was thinking staying serialized vs trying to get serialized again.
Does anyone know how many mangas are published weekly in Jump? I've never actually read an issue so I wasn't sure how 5 mangas going on hiatus would affect it.

I just checked Wiki and right now there are 22 titles that run in Weekly Shounen Jump.
So yeah, if a quarter of your authors decided to go on hiatus, that wouldn't be pretty.

It's going to be very interesting to see how this goes down, because I can see both sides of the argument.
BTW, was it my imagination, or were the other editors giving the boss the cold shoulder?

Looks like Miura just screwed himself suggesting to break up Ashirogi Muto.

I agree. I don't like Miura. He's pushy and the way he acts about having a gag manga. Not everyone wants that. Plus trying to break them up?

I had about had it with Miura, too since he was always trying to shove comedy down all his mangakas throats. But, I gotta give him props, he put in the time to do the research and show that over time, gag mangas can do better.
Unfortunately, he's such a n00b at being an editor that he went and crammed his feet down his throat.
I'm pretty sure that the duo are going to all but demand a new editor, so it's going to be interesting how that plays out.

Yeah, he did back it up with stuff. But he just is too pushy.
I hope they can get their old one back. He really understood them.
Is it time for it to be out yet? Haha. I love this manga.

Same. I think he really got them better. He knew how to handle them, yet didn't shove too much down their throats.

Could you just imagine what would happen if they would have tried to stick Miura with Eiji? ![]()
Yeah, Miura's still too pushy. Even if the numbers do back up what you've been saying, artistic types are stubborn and tempermental (often times) so you have to be sort of manipulative to get your point across.

Ohhh I'd love a side story of that then. Eiji and Miura? Hehehe.
Yup.It's true they are stubborn. Those two are stubborn for sure. How Miura could think of breaking them up was foot in mouth, not thinking.

Now now, I am certain that Miyoshi would totally understand that this is strictly a working relationship.
Yes, I almost managed to type that with a straight face.
I think that she'll be fine with it without too much drama, unless of course we see signs that this "working relationship" develops into something more.
No, the real problem is going to be that one guy who was partnered with Aoki on Hideout Door. Though it could lead him to hook up with Ashirogi's former assistant.

New chapters out, spoilerish thoughts to follow...
Okay, anyone else with me in the fact that this working relationship is NOT going to stay professional for very long? Also, the more I see of Aoki, the more I love her. She's very polite and proper, but also very cute. When I first met her, I thought she was just some egocentric wench who'd just as soon condescend to you as look at you.
Speaking of condescention, we get a blast from the past with a character showing up in this manga.
BTW, what the hell, do they not have call waiting as an option on Japanese cell phone plans? Anyway, Takagi, you're really messing up here. I don't care how jealous you think your girl is, you can't just hide something like this from her, it's only going to fuel the fire. If she's going to be pissed about you spending time with another woman, just tell her up front and take your lumps then move on. No matter which business you are in, avoiding the appearance of inpropriety is an absolute necessity.
Oh, and what exactly is subtle or coincidental about that particular meeting?!
Anyway, that's all for now. Though there may be more to come later.

Urameshi, you've basically covered everything I was going to say, but I noticed something particularly awesome.
Iwase and Aoki both go to To-Oh University.
...The same university Light Yagami went to.

DUN DUN
I was thinking it'd be pretty lulzy if for shits and giggles, Ohba decides to draw Aoki or whomever on campus, and in the background you see the scene from Death Note when Light, L, and Misa cause a crowd to form (right before Misa gets arrested). That's be so awesome. XD

I would love for that to happen. Or even see a guy who looks like Light walking by.

Ah, I had not noticed that. Probably because I hate DN and blocked it from my mind, who knows for sure.
I hope if they are going to give their previous work a shout-out, that it's a tad more subtle than that. Hopefully they have a better grasp of the term "subtle" than Aoki-chwan does. >_>
