You bring up an interesting point.  Most shounen heroes aren't willing to resort to trickery to win a fight.  I mean, you you imagine Naruto or Ichigo pulling half the stuff Natsu does during a fight?  I sure as heck can't.  Natsu is much more like a seinen character, only caring about winning/surviving, not honor or any of that other stuff.  Natsu is much more like Luffy in this regard, though its usually Luffy's dumb luck rather than his cleverness (or is it?).

firstof all, Natsu's about as Shounen as any other shounen hero, i say. second of all, what's with all the shounen hate all of a sudden?

and thirdly, new chpter's out and sort of cool. the game as begun, Erza's sealed away where he massive powers can't be brought out until the end and the forces have been split (naturally). also, Erza's sealing was a bit too conveniently timed. she was about to explain why the use of etherion was absurd when shou locked her up. from my study of shounen, i'd say that she was probably going to allude to Siegrain somehow. is he like God and Piccolo from Dragon Ball, with one good half and one evil half in existence, but the death of one spells the death of the other?

also, Natsu looks SO badass when he's flaming.

Luffy is a far more developed character though due to One Pieces lenght

I dunno.  We've been getting hint after hint that Lucy is a seriously strong Stellar Spirit Mage, what better way to display all this potential than to have her win this fight by pwning Lluvia back to her senses then going on to pwn this Gene Simmons wannabe.

So, did Lucy earn her stripes this week in your opinion?  It would seem that something was accomplished this chapter that surprised even the big baddie of the arc.

NO, I was throroughly unimpressed.  I was hoping for some major knock down drag out where both Lucy and Lluvia were taken to their limits.  Instead I got Lucy getting her dress ripped up (gratuitous much?!  though I should have known that she was wearing too much clothing).  Then, some odd out of the blue, magical girl show moment where the power of friendship saves the day.  Gag me with a spoon.  The only good thing about it was that we didn't have to suffer through a fusion dance.

yeah, magic fusion confused me...but at least we got some prime underboob shots in the end. i liked the chapter, but i'm not at all sure what happened...since i realized that Lucy was the main character, i would hope she'd start pulling more weight on her own rather tan having to team up with someone else to make a difference. ah, well, Erza's a strong enough female character...

well, i wasn't going to say that "one female with strength is enough", but i guess since Erza's pretty perfect as a female character, having one weak one isn't necessarily an affront to women...

One Piece has Chopper and Nami they are weak fighters but both help out and are useful 

Same goes for Lucy

But in all seriousness, I'm of the opinion that you can never have too many strong characters period.  And I don't just mean strength in the physical fighting way, I mean intestinal fortitude, cleverness etc.  Lucy does fall into the category of strong characters.  But I was hoping for a fight more along the lines of Nami v. that Spilky Chick from Baroque Works or Nami v. Califa.  Instead I got Magical Lyrical Nanoha v. that little blonde girl who bcame her best friend in the sequel.

I like strong characters. But I also like characters that start of weak,nervous and unsure their more relateable they make me wanna root for them and then when those special moments come where they do somthing amazing It is just that much sweeter because you think back at how far they have came. The idea of a story with no characters such as these sounds extremely boring and unapealing to me. Thats just my preference though

Hey I just gave a look over the 1st chap of FT and the first thing I noticed is that the drawings had a One Piece, Lovely Complex look to them. Is Mashima related to any of those works or is it just that they just look similar?
