There's really no way to predict what's going to happen in this manga is there? Killua having a genie sister, I mean what the hell. That **beast** could've killed Meryem.

Yeah but it would only affect the pesterings for the next person who uses her. Sweet deal really.

My understanding is that the pester's are decided not by the wish, but by the wish before it.
So, if they had used that power on Meryem the price would be determined by whatever the previous wish was (in this case a computer).
Esentially the cost would only play a role the next time she had someone to pester. So, in theory, it could've worked. But then there wouldn't be this opportunity for Killua to save Gon. But for that to happen we're going to have to see how things play out. It's not Hunter unless someone gets messed up. <_<

But like I was trying to say, that's only applicable if someone wants another wish.
Simply put, remove her from the picture after the wish is granted, then there's no need to pay "the price."
That's why they keep her locked away, I would assume.

Someone just needs to wish for universal happiness or something and then cut her head off. But then again there's probably some stipulation like, all the bad karma she has yet to dish out will immediately go into effect once she dies.

With the newest chapter I am starting to believe that Alluka is male or female depending on the one talking. The one Killua knows is the girl while the one his siblings only know the wish granting boy.
It's the only way I can understand why Killua's siblings call Alluka a boy while Killua calls him a girl.
Or maybe Killua can't gender.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I wonder why Illumi thought the fallout from the wish could be in the tens of thousands, that's pretty absurd. But I guess Gon must've had to pay a heavy price to get that wicked awesome hair.

I think it's because no one has wished for something impossible. Becoming a billionare, having someone killed. Sure those are hard to accomplish, but not impossible.
Illumi straight up said that returning Gon to normal was beyond science and medicine, so bringing him back would carry a greater burden.
Tens of thousands does seem high, but I wouldn't count it out.
This was a really good chapter though.
The Illumi/Hisoka interaction was pretty funny and interesting and I loved the rather grim representation of the scene where Killua pretends to die.

can someone please tell me why yoshihiro makes so many of these powers/techniques so **beast** complicated? i feel i have to read chapters like the lastest one at least 3 times just to sort out all the rules.
and im sure theres gonna be at least a whole chap on a loophole in alluka technique that'll let killua and gon live

maybe for fights but i hate it when the loopholes are used to move the plot. it makes the whole scenario seemed forced.
its like trying to gob makeup on the typical shounen formula. im not asking for innovation but....

Chapter 324 is out.
I really want to see Tsubone in action, she looks like a monster. But hey, this seems like a good example of how complicated rules and techniques can lead to interesting things. Without a slightly complicated description of how Alluka's powers work, it wouldn't be surprising that Killua could make a conditional wish.
I mean, if her powers were simply left at 'granting wishes', then the reader's expectations would remain nebulous, it wouldn't matter to us what she is and isn't allowed to do. But if our expectations are skewed in some direction, then it feels like an entirely new development when those expectations are challenged and something happens kind of outside of the rules. It's like an art to make rules and then change/break them in clever, logical ways.

Yeah, what I'm really enjoying about this is the subtle subterfuge going on between Killua and his family as he tries to save Gon. It's interesting to see them play different advantages against each other and it's especially interesting given that we don't understand the full extent of Alluka's powers. Hopefully it works out though.
