I think he meant it would cost an American close to $600 to own the series, which, including shipping, taxes, and the weakness of the dollar to the yen right now, it pretty darn close.

For the Japanese it'll still cost a fark ton of money.

Anyway, this is good news. Though those that imported the Japanese releases are probably saying "FFFUUU" more now that this is getting an English dub.

That's how things have been in Japan for a while. 2-4 episode singles for $60-$90. And when they get box sets, it costs them hundreds. It cost thousands of dollars to get the two Japanese Dragon Boxes. Thousands for just 291 episodes.

1. It was a suspense-thriller from a well-known and respected director, and Geneon probably fought tooth and nail to give it a television airing. It was also one of the poorest-performing anime AS ever had. Madoka has neither the pedigree nor the appearance that would make AS consider it.

2. If I had a nickel for every show FUNi's licensed and hasn't put out the dub of yet...

3. Stein's Gate is brand new as of April 2011.  It's only natural that it doesn't have a dub yet.

Well that was fun.

Dub's pretty good, not the greatest but certainly not bad. 

Homura was probably my favorite, with Sayaka and Mami as close seconds.

I missed that the show has a dub. It makes the prices not seem near as bad, though still high for me. If they're not OOP by the time I have so much to spend on anime, I might pick the series up.

I didn't care for Homura, but I think it's more the script than her delivery.

Sayaka was great though.

It's fine, but it was oddly inconsistent. I'd say the first and fourth eps are the best dubbed so far, but hopefully the rest will live up the latter.

Mah Bluray just came in. I'm pretty impressed with the dub, especially Kyouko, Kyuubey, Sayaka, and Homura. Another cool thing is the double sided cover that allows you to switch the cover from the Homura one to the Mami one (I only got LE for Volume 2, so the flip cover is the only bonus I can brag about for Vol.1, HD aside )
